to the extent this exists at all, there is likely no continuity with any actual Irish republicanism. Moreover, organized IRA factions are basically pathetic street gangs (if that) now, so there isn't much to draw from anyway.

The reality is that the ardent republicans who play around with IRA labels are out and out white trash these days. If the lower classes drawn into this stuff want to reinvent themselves as mass immigration opponents - more power to them. They've been left behind, they need a fight, and republicanism isn't providing it anymore. It makes sense in a vacuum.

But if so, it wouldn't have anything to do with the remnants of the IRA, which, if anything, are more likely to threaten/oppose the people objecting to mass migration than vice versa. All the power/authority structures behind those movements are ideologically incompatible with what we're talking about.

I spent some time over there in the Mid-80s ... several of us were training/working with the SAS, staging out of Redesdale, Otterburn, in Northern England. I was injured during that TDY assignment and was hospitalized in Newcastle ... which is where I met my first wife.

So I spent a lot of time in Northern Ireland (officially we were observers when in country) and there were a lot of clashes with the IRA at the time.

Everyone needs to remember that the modern IRA is based in terrorism, Marxist beliefs, etc. They were not always that way but they were taken over by some really bad guys who made deals with the PLO, the Red Brigade, Baader-Meinhof Group (Red Army Faction), etc.

They were somewhat effective at causing anarchy back in the day until the general Irish public turned against them.

They will not be able to do anything of note these days because these days big brother is watching.

All they're doing now is saber rattling ... and they're neutered.

If things are going to turn around in Ireland it'll take a mass uprising by the native population. The IRA is nothing ... compare them to our so-called organized militias. They're a fantasy, a boogieman used by the deep state as an excuse to increase surveillance and institute crackdowns.
