I say this as someone who has battled pancreatic cancer for 10 months (and winning) and had to trust doctors with my life: Since Covid, I will forevermore question and be skeptical of official government statements or information on medical issues.

We have a pharmacist in our church. Great guy. He told me one day when we were chatting after church that he has not and would not take the Covid vaccine.

There are several covid strains that are classified as part of the "common cold." Perhaps, this is a new addition.
