Da Bears are already moving out.
Not sure how much tax that generated, but I imagine it to be significant.
Especially the players no longer work in the City anymore, so you can't grab that 3.5% income tax for yourself

Surprised we haven’t had a leftist from the OT pop in saying how Chicago is an awesome town with great summers and great food.

Not to mention all the taxes gained from all the money spent on game days.

don't understand why a white person would still live in Chicago right now.
A lot of these are ethnic enclaves (Italians, Poles, etc) and they don’t want to abandon their historic neighborhoods their ancestors built up.

The number of tax payers in Chicago is about to get smaller.

Kamala is mad she hasn’t thought of this yet

Yeah, that's how it works.
If you live in a ghetto slum that's poorly funded because everyone is either on welfare or working minimum wage jobs and or selling drugs and therefore minimal taxes are collected that can be put back into your area, then make a change...
Work your arse off at the entry level at a new job where advancement is possible (not just advancement from burger flipper to drink filler). Move up and keep moving up until you can afford to leave your old area behind and live somewhere where most people are hard working individuals like yourself, that enjoy the amenities of a nicer area that your tax dollars pay for...
...and then elect progressive leadership in your new city and watch them take your tax money and pour it into your old neighborhood full of crackheads and welfare queens that you worked so hard to get away from, and say out loud, "hey, wait a minute...." Then, watch as you get laid off from your good job you worked so hard to EARN, and your former employer replaces you with your formerly lifelong unemployed previous crackhead neighbor Ty'Quavion "in the name of inclusiveness and equality!!!"
Congratulations. This happens every day, everywhere, and people VOTE FOR IT.

A Metra “city surcharge” will raise $40 million from the suburbs,” his plan states, without saying precisely how the commuter tax would be imposed or at what level.

Raising $98 million by “making the big airlines pay for polluting the air” in Chicago neighborhoods.

Taxing financial transactions — Johnson calls it a “Big Banks Securities and Speculation Tax” — at a rate of $1 or $2 for every “securities trading contract.”

Hiking a Chicago hotel tax that’s already the nation’s highest to generate $30 million more.

Imposing “new user fees for high-end commercial districts frequented by the wealthy, suburbanites, tourists and business travelers” to generate $100 million.

raise the real estate transfer tax on high-end home sales to create a dedicated source of funding to reduce homelessness and create affordable housing. Johnson said what he calls a “Chicago Mansion Tax” would raise $100 million a year.
So give commuters a reason to work from home and businesses incentive to leave the city which erodes necessary business travel into Chicago alongside the disincentive for tourist travel into Chicago for high airline fees, expensive hotels and highly taxed tourist areas.

It's about time white Chicagoans pay their fair share.

I have no problem with this.

I think they quietly want people to move away. Democrats have Chicago and Illinois locked up permanently. They need some of those votes to move to red states.
The left has (correctly) calculated that the majority of the electorate in this country no longer votes with their wallets and votes based on made up social issues. They know they can use dogshit economic policies to run off a lot of their population to places like Georgia, Texas, Virginia, and North Carolina and that more of those people will continue to vote for Democrats than will switch and begin voting for Republicans.

Excellent news. I don't live in Chicago and I love to see liberals paying more taxes. frick them all.

I love it. Chicago is in the shitter. They get rid of their shite mayor and replace it with shite.
Keep going down, Chi-Town. We'll be here to laugh at your continuing collapse.

Very much not a leftist here, but I have had had great times there. Have always thought of Chicago areas I visited as the nicest major city.
This is all depressing to read and watch from afar

Chicago itself is a certified shithole. The affluent suburbs of Chicago are great neighborhoods.

That’ll help the capital that’s been fleeing Chicago and Illinois for a decade.
