Because only the true 1% of complete and total idiots would pay 115,000 for anything with “Jeep” on the grille. Unless it was Patton’s own Jeep that carried him across Europe and had one of his ivory handled pistols laying on the seat.
If it was that one and you meant to drive it 1000 yards a year to get it on a trailer to take to a car show you'd better be a better than average mechanic....jeeps are the Jaguars of "US" branded automobiles...unless you like to constantly tinker with them you best steer clear...

Its this. They are taking out 7 year loans on them.
I'd bet they are either leasing and will be shite out of luck when it ends or they are financing them for 10-12 years. 20 year loans on boats is common today...7 years for a car note is probably considered a short term car loan today...

I'm going to be driving my '02 Dodge RAM until it falls completely apart. I can't justify paying new truck prices these days.
I bought a 2014 Chevy Silverado to use around the home with a salvage title in the spring of 2020. The dude who had bought the truck and repaired it and sold it to me right before prices went bonkers, truck had 79k miles, gave him $19k.....it's in pretty good shape...will drive until it's kaput.

20 years on boats?!?
Running joke is that the happiest days in boat ownership are the day you buy and the day you sell. A 20 year note on one is fricking insane.

Honda uses it as well. I haven't heard of any issues but I wasnt crazy about the idea when they switched
All CVTs are not the same. Honda makes their own in-house and they are fine from a reliability standpoint.
Nissan uses Jatco CVTs and they are not reliable.

The only new affordable cars that came out in the last year or two are the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Chevy Trax. Both are very small hatchback/SUV types. And both are realistically mid $20,000 range. The Corolla and Civic are still around and are in that range as well. But they have a wait list right now in some markets.
Manufacturers are cancelling affordable models like the Focus, Cruze, a Fit, Yaris, etc. They rarely add new affordable models back to the lineup. So demand for used vehicles climbs and keeps prices high.
During recessions, the car companies need affordable models to sell. Seems very short sighted to cancel the less expensive models. It too much of or a vulnerability during economic downturns to only have the higher end, more expensive vehicles.

From all indications I have seen, Nissan is the Chrysler / Fiat of the Asian automakers.
Kind of makes sense in a way given that assholes driving domestic tend to be in a Charger or Challengers while assholes driving foreign are generally in a Nissan or Kia.

The chip shortage is pushing some of this.
When I went to buy my car, the finance lady had the wrong paperwork at first and said “You’re here to buy an XXX today? Didn’t realize we even had one on the lot.”
Said model was the low end SUV from that manufacturer which didn’t get discontinued as much as severely under stocked because, if you only have the parts to make X number of cars, you are going to make the expensive luxury models which are going to bring a better profit rather than the lower margin stuff.

We looked at the new Grand Wagoner. It’s very nice. But Jeep’s reputation has us going to a manufacturer with more experience in that market.
Just don’t quite trust them yet. Although I would get one over a Land Rover product though.

I bought a 3500 GMC new in 2014. I needed that much truck at the time to drag a 20 foot decoy trailer. I no longer need that much truck and about 2 years ago decided I was going to sell it and buy another...and like most idiots I started looking at new trucks before I put mine on the market. The dealer I bought it from offered me what I paid for it. A then 6 year old truck with about 65K miles on it and a dealer is willing to pay me what I paid for it new...I was suspicious until I got serious about buying a new truck...then I saw the light. The difference in prices for similar equipped half ton trucks was $35K more than I paid. I have since decided that this is probably the last truck I ever buy and will simply fix it when it needs it. I may be an idiot but I ain't no fool...

Insanity on the part of the lender...the buyer may be crazy like a fox...nice, new boat for a few years, let them have it back and walk away from the loan and within 24 months lenders will be beating a path to your door to get you to borrow some money again. The same lender who repossessed and went through collections and possibly was included in the ensuing bankruptcy will be begging that same borrower to do it again in 2 years or less. It beats all I ever slept with....

They are beautiful vehicles...my lovely bride was all in on one until I managed to talk her down. I don't know that I would pay $100K for the Jeep trademark LOL...I know I wouldn't pay $100K for a fleet of jeeps.
Land Rovers are even worse...you are correct. They are the Jaguar of Jaguars. All Jaguars are a maintenance nightmare...sharp as tacks across the entirety of the product line and if you have unlimited funds and do not mind it spending more time at the dealer than it is on the road they are great...but for sane people they are horrendous.

The Telluride? I believe that's been consistently ranked as the best SUV in that class, basically since it dropped.

20 year boat loans have been around for at least 15 years but used to be limited to more expensive boats but now you can get a 20 year loan on $100k which won't buy much new boat today.

When I was single, I bought new cars. Once I had a wife, kids, a home . . . that went completely out the window. You're an idiot if you buy brand new cars when you have other much more important obligations and responsibilities.
