I WANT MY NEW SUV! I'M TOO PROUD TO BUY USED!

My wife's vehicle is nearly 15 years old. We've looked into a mid-sized SUV replacement cost used and new. A three year old used is nearly the same price as brand new at usually 45-60k miles.

The entire auto market is nuts, and yeah...I think it's being politically manipulated in part as well.

yeah. trucks are insane. I bought a nice Ram bighorn in 2012 or so. I don't ever buy brand new but it had 23k miles on it. got it for 25k. the same type truck is now 40k+. yeah, my income has increased a lot since then, but I was definitely better off making 65 percent of what I make now, 7 years ago.

we're blessed to be in a position where it doesn't really matter. we'll be fine spending that much but it is very concerning for most people. and downright prohibitive for a lot.

We about to look like Communist paradise Cuba, where everyone drives around 50 year old classic cars, not by choice.

If I could retain McGuyver to be my personal mechanic, I would consider it.

As it is, I need something low maintenance because I already have too much high maintenance shite at home.

It’s everything, not just cars.

Supposedly my house, 4-2 slab, is worth double what I bought it for six years ago.

I have no problem buying a used car. What I will never buy is an EV.

prices are laughable

how the car companies and dealers are getting away with it, is still beyond me.

look at trucks, many dealers adding 10-30K to them with bogus fees.

I got a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4.8
engine that has about 148,000 miles on it and it keeps moving.

It was my grandfather's truck and I bought it for $3,000 after he passed away back in 2016.

Your personal vehicle is the only real avenue of freedom that most people have. Makes perfect sense then that this government wants to take it away make it unaffordable. Railroad you into public transportation where people are easily controlled. Limited mobility etc

They want to take away your car. Your food. Your money. The government is openly doing the work of Satan

This shite didn't even go upside down by 2018. So if you did that, totally isolated incident.

I have a 2008 Silverado that has almost 200k miles on it. I am waiting for something major to go out. I would love to get a new truck, but no way I am paying the kinds of prices that are out there right now. I am in a place where I'd almost rather put a new engine/transmission in it than buy a new one. Not sure if that is cost effective.

I drive a 2012 Acura TSX and also have a 2007 Chevy Silverado crew cab. The Acura is still an awesome car and my truck is a workhorse. I’d like a new car but I’m not paying $50,000 when my cars are perfectly fine. Anybody paying $90,000 for a depreciating ego buggy is independently wealthy or swimming in debt and stupid.

You probably mean “he financed it for $73k.”

The bigger issue which many aren’t bringing up is the wage gap the last 3 years. As everything went up including new and used cars, wage have not kept up with inflation. This is a double whammy as new car prices go up due to supply, rising unrest rates and stagnant wages. That same car you were looking at in 2019 is suddenly $15k-$20k more expensive for the exact same model.

The sad part is the same car is worth less but the dollar is worth even lesser. So is my 5 dollar raise

'If you're poor better settle for that Altima'

That would be a big mistake- Nissan makes shitty cars today, especially the Altima & Rogue. That CVT transmission has been a nightmare for years, yet Nissan still uses it even though it has never been corrected!
