You seem to be 100% bought in to government erosion of rights in all this. I am extremely wary of it while also recognizing that some of this may be necessary.

The debate is going to be over how flat the curve needs to be.
For many, they will want us to stay locked up until Christmas. For many others there will be some cost/benefit calculation that will push for a return to normal
Is the media and CDC going to hide the number of people they suspect have already had the Coronavirus but are not demonstrating serious issues? Three of the four NJ Nets players are not ill. Flu season is ending in the US. That frees up all the sacred ICU capacity that is predicted to be needed.
If this is flattened out over four weeks time they will need to stop the lockup. People will want to save every man, woman and child; but that isn’t possible

It has to do with Mardi Gras.
I recognize that some of this is necessary, but I am also getting increasingly worried about the pissing match local and state governments are getting into about how far they can push authoritarian power without pushback from the masses.
And they are pushing it FAR. It reminds me of the explosion in government following the Great Depression.
I think we are heading towards something similar, and as soon as this is over, we need to be ready to pushback.

These numbers are frightening but at some point a majority of Americans will not care. You're asking the nation to destroy their future, destroy their economy and give up civil liberties for 1-2% of the population (the majority of which has lived most of their lives).
I believe that modern medicine will find ways to save a lot of people before we eventually get to a vaccine and these doom and gloom reports will look silly.
