The goal here is to spark a challenge to Roe v. Wade that will hopefully make its way to the Supreme Court.

quote:

Seventy-seven Alabama lawmakers today signed on in support of bills to make it a felony for a doctor to perform an abortion in Alabama.

The bills introduced today in the Alabama House and Senate would be a direct challenge to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 that nullified state bans on abortion. The House bill’s sponsor, Rep. Terri Collins, R-Decatur, said the intent of her bill is to spark a challenge to the landmark ruling.

quote:

“It simply criminalizes abortion,” Collins said. “It is meant to actually use some of the same language that is addressed in Roe vs. Wade. So, hopefully it just completely takes it all the way to the Supreme Court eventually to overturn.”

I'm sure the laws banning abortion will be equally as effective as those banning drugs, guns at schools, driving while using a cell phone, etc, etc, etc.......

About time. Conservative legislators across the country should have been shoving these types of bills through their system the day after Kavanaugh was confirmed.

I hate abortion but who is going to raise all these unwanted children? Foster homes and childrens homes are full.

When abortion was illegal it was still going on in back rooms, which led to death of the mom at times. If someone wants an abortion they will find away.

So will all of you that want abortion illegal be willing to adopt 2 or 3 foster kids?

It’d be nice if the parents did.

I avoid abortion threads but I'll bet you bitched about removing federal funding from the special Olympics.

If we are going to kill "unwanted" babies why not go all Sparta and just pitch retarded kids off cliffs? They are all a drain on society, right?

etc, etc, etc = murder, rape, armed robbery, speeding in a school zone.

Why bother with any law. Let’s go back to the good old anarchy days.

Once again Republicans doing the one thing we know won't reduce abortions, while claiming their goal is reducing the number of abortions.

No, I didn't bitch about the funding.

I was in 4 foster homes before being adopted. Taken out of 1 due to getting abused and removed from another due to a fellow foster childs death. I hate abortion but I also understand for every cause there is an effect.
It's easy to step up on a pedestal and preach then go home and let everyone know you stopped abortion but are you also going to help those unwanted children or are you the type that says " I did my deed by stopping abortion someone else needs to help with the kids"?

We all would like the parents to step up but reality doesn't match fantasy.

So stopping abortion is admirable but what are you willing to do to help out with the " effect" you " caused"?

I hope it takes its time up to the Supreme Court. I don't trust Roberts on something as big as this. Get RBG out and ACB in and let it ride.

It isn't adding up.

I had parents growing up. A single mother and a father that kidnapped us and beat us and my mother. Life isn't perfect but it's better than the alternative.

I hate abortion period. That is my personal opinion but my opinion should not control someone else's opinion.
I would never use abortion but I don't have the right to tell you that you can't.
I'm thankful I was born and adopted. Grew up with a great mom and a alcoholic dad who reminded me daily that my " real family" didnt want me and he shouldn't have adopted me ( he only did this at night when he was drunk). Sober he is a good man and fed and clothed me, taught me right from wrong.

So my adopted parents are against abortion and stood up and adopted 2 children.
My question is for all the ones demanding to make abortion illegal is 2 fold- First why do you think your opinion on abortion gives you the right to demand others abide by your feelings and will you be adopting or financially helping all the new foster kids that society will have.
You can stop adoption but you better have a plan for what comes with that because kids are real.

If plenty of people are wanting to adopt than why are is there a shortage on foster homes and why are there still so many foster kids?

Take a visit to a childrens home then let me know what the plan is when we add more children to the system. Shouldn't plan one without the other.

It isn't a "feeling" it is a stance on life. It's sad when in our country we give more prison time for someone smacking a puppies head against a fence post than we do cutting a child apart and tossing it in the trash.

It's YOUR stance on life which is a opinion. My stance is I'm against abortion and would not use it BUT that doesn't give me the right to force MY STANCE on others that may disagree with me.
If someone goes the abortion route thats something they have to live with .
Now there should absolutely be cut off limits for abortion.
When that fetus reaches the stage where it could survive without the mom then any abortion should be considered murder. I personally think once the fetus has formed enough to where it can be distinguished as a human then that should be the cutoff.
