I find it funny that modern Jews try to spin themselves off as another race when they have the same genetic makeup of most all Americans of European descent. Even Ben Shapiro thinks he's a different race than the average white dude on any city street in America.

The FCC can't repeal the law.

The letter did not state the law was being repealed.

The letter stated his interpretation of current regulations permitting an expansion of power in reviewing actions by SM under the current law. That's more government.

I hope you’re being sarcastic. I say that because he summed up the situation quite accurately. At the time this movie takes place (4 -6 BC), the area we now know as Israel was a Roman Provence named Judea. The population was overwhelmingly Jewish. Then, following a Jewish revolt against Roman rule, Jerusalem was sacked in 70 AD and the Jewish temple destroyed. Roman then began to deport Jews from Judea and in 132 AD, following the Bar Kokhba revolt, Rome renamed the Provence of Judea “Syria Palaestina” to basically erase the areas connection of the Jewish people. It was, for all intents and purposes, ethnic cleansing of the Jews by the Romans. As the Romans expelled Jews from the Provence, they brought in settlers from other areas, primarily neighboring Levantine provinces such as Arabia, Syria, and Phoenicia, as well as from the coastal plain and beyond, settled in the area. The new Roman colony of Aelia Capitolina was populated by Roman veterans and migrants from western parts of the empire, who also occupied its surroundings, administrative centers, and main roads.

But even then the name given to the Provence by Rome, Syria Palaestina, had nothing to do with the modern day “Palestinians.” Rather it originated from the merger of Judea with areas to the north of the traditional Jewish homeland with areas formerly controlled by Philistines, a people who by this time had been gone for close to five centuries following their conquest by Babylon. The modern day “Palestinians” are Arabs who trace their roots to Arabia and their ancestors began to arrive after the Roman depopulation of Judea. This migration of Arabs into the region continued throughout the Muslim conquest of the Middle East in the 7th century Ad.

That has nothing to do with anything I’ve posted.

I’ll post this again, my larger point, please address it.

Y'all are getting hung up on “Jewish” and “Palestinian” but this is completely missing the larger point.

Modern jewish people are not the same as the ones who lived in ancient Israel. They’ve been scattered for thousands of years and are mostly Eastern European dna at this point. The modern Palestinian Arabs are a closer genetic match to the ancient Israelites than the modern Jews are.

The blue portion of the graph represents ancient levant (Israel) DNA

This actress’ name is Cohen, so she’s likely of Ashkenazi Jewish descent.

I don’t see how anyone can argue with this

People post vague generalities like this and when asked to post specifics, we end up here:

Binary thinkers have a difficult time with terms meaning different things today than 2000 years ago.

"Palestine" or "Palestinian" is basically a made up word today to group in a slew of different ethnicities with a general relationship to the Levant post-Ottoman Empire.

Well of course they do this. If they didn’t have this claim, it would put them in an uncomfortable situation of finding different ways to justify their conquest and occupation of the former Palestine

This is going to be a perfect opportunity for the board's antisemites to tell you the people living in Israel have nothing to do with the ones living in the region in Biblical times, so even casting an Israeli actor is anti-authentic.

look at some of my posts on this board this morning from like 5-7 am. Many of them are very long multi paragraph posts. When I have the time I will use whatever length is necessary for what I want to get across. This is my posting style at all times. Try again

And we're discussing a letter from the putative FCC head, not Congress.

If repealing the law is the goal, the FCC head has no role and should not say anything, correct?

quote:

That's exactly the point of DOGE. Permitting unelected bureaucrats to use their regulatory power to influence private parties

That is how a system of less government works

quote:

Have you ever negotiated anything?

The result of stripping power is to remove any leverage in negotiation.

You prove my point again.

True. And all the pro Israel people on this board shout this over and over, and I also agree with it!

But that is irrelevant. It’s a placeholder name to describe a certain type of people. I don’t see how people cannot grasp this

It’s a fact that the Palestinians have vastly more genetic similarity to the ancient Israelites than the modern Israeli Jews. That statement isn’t controversial or disputable

Can someone explain to me how modern day Jews aren’t of Jewish descent. That’s like saying everybody who was Jewish became Christian or Muslim and Christians or pagans in Europe became Jews. That doesn’t sound like it makes sense, especially since Judaism isn’t proselytic religion.
