yep. I don't think zach realizes this though.

You missed the point. I'm not disputing what's on the helmet, only that Navy is trying to make some sinister political statement.

So, while the Navy didn't adopt a Tea Party rallying cry, Zach did have some reason to ask.

Then why hasn't it been worn on a helmet in 110 years until today?
About 105 of the 110 years can be explained by the fact that up until a few years ago, Navy never wore a helmet with a design on it. They have worn only so many alternate designs. It is a relatively new thing for the service academies (and for every program that exists) to use alternate uniforms.

I would like to personally thank you for this thread. You've proven yourself time and time again to be a misguided, unintelligent, paranoid, narcissistic old fart, and this thread is your magnum opus. It is bookmarked and screen capped so that I'll always be able to hold over your head the day you made perhaps the shittiest point in the history of this board.

I agree with the old fart part. But Zach narcissistic and paranoid?Unintelligent and misguided? Lol.

Zach seems like the salt of The Earth to me. He doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body.He just has a point of view and It's different from yours. And that caused you to melt down.

Congrats?

The Navy is doing with this logo what the good people of the south should have done with the confederate flag...they are refusing to have it co-opted by a group that has no business using it as their own. The difference is that the good people of the south kind of liked the idea of the Klan using the confederate flag for their nefarious purposes. The Navy apparently is not willing to let an anti-government group bastardize a symbol they have been using for 200 + years. Kudos to the Navy....

What you conspiracy nuts should be alarmed about is the more recent Navy slogan "A Global Force for Good". The arrogance and misplaced use of tax payer funded resources in that slogan is so eggregious that it ain't even funny...and almost no one ever mentions it because we have accepted the fact that the taxpayers of this country have a responsibility somehow to ensure there is safe access to global markets for products produced in China, Japan and Europe while Americans are expected to "compete" fairly....there is a "conspiracy" that is actually a fact of life and one that is crippling the United States....

Can you provide a link where someone associated with Annapolis says this "retaking" was the intented purpose of the slogan being displayed?

So much so that when the Naval Academy displays a modern version of a traditional Naval image, Zach's first move is to assume that this move is inspired by the seven-year political movement that he supports, and his second move is to question why the rest of the world didn't assume the same thing (or worse—he assumes that everybody DID pick up on it, but that they are intentionally ignoring it). It's what narcissistic, paranoid, unintelligent, misguided people do. This thread is very Zach.

The original post and link is the proof you seek my friend....the Navy is using the image for the same purpose it has always been used for...and doing so while ensuring their mission goals are being met, a mission that includes allowing nuts to publicly discuss all sorts of idiotic ideas like a football team passing a message onto revolutionaries that they will go alone when the fighting starts. The Navy doesn't need to do a press release stating they are going to continue to use their image...all they have to do is continue to use it....if they stopped because it had recently become associated with the tea baggers then they would be doing what the good people of the south did with the confederate flag....allowing the use of the image to be co-opted by idiots.

According to the link I read the reason for the football team displaying the slogan is a response to SEAL teams being prohibited from showing the symbol on their uniforms. No where do I see the reasoning you assigned to the Academy being valid.

Zach: 7
Ballcaster: Really Mad

Ballcaster loses on style points despite substantive rebuttal...
Game Over.

Sincerely, not personal in any way, ballcaster, (you are obviously good peeps despite our disagreements) it just amuses me that Zach of all genial, good-natured people elicits that level of vitriol. And here I am being a COMPLETE a-hole and nobody worth a shite says a bad thing...

If true then it makes my point for me....the Naval academy made a conscious decision not to allow the symbol to be coopted for any other purpose. Thanks for making my point for me...I was unaware that the Naval Academy had made a conscious decision to do so...I was pretty happy with my summation that it was merely doing so because they had always done so. An actual conscious decision would have been even better on the part of the good people of the south than merely using the flag for what it had always been used for. So there you go...you have proven my point to yourself to what should be your satisfaction...I doubt if it will be but that is what you have done...

I'm glad they brought it into the spotlight, for whatever reason.

It's a great message that is pro-individual and anti-statist.

How is it anti-statist? Anti-monarchy yes, anti-statist? Really? SO a HUGE statist, collective organization such as the US Navy is using a symbol that is contrary to their very nature? Hell that is worse than it being a message to the tea baggers that they navy has their back if the shite kicks off....
