Do we armor the flight decks these days?

Well, without ORD and fuel, you're talking 38k pounds hitting the deck at speed, on purpose, in an F18. A drone even with 100lbs of explosives may break some arresting wires, but I also wouldn't aim a drone at the deck, I'd aim it at the bridge and SPY radars, etc., which are much easier to damage.

Also, considering that a 1980s Durandal ( BLU-107B) could penetrate 15 feet of concrete before exploding, I'm not sure deck armor would really matter anyway.

By ORD, I don't mean Chicago O'Hare, I mean ordnance. Airport codes are my habit.

We used to have meetings at Nellis AFB contractor training facilities, across the road.

When I approach some very serious guards, at the gate in my rental car and all I needed was to be on the list and present my badge to get in.

Even with that, it was not considered high security.

I can appreciate the QC, Quality Control.

Pretty sure a Phalanx can do that easily.

USS JPH is a garbage ship.

They could at least have chosen a AN-SPY 1-D ship

Don’t worry US’s own “Iron Dome” has been speculated and documented for a long time. At least in some capacity.

So you’re saying our “light years ahead military” didn’t know a bunch of drones were heading toward a destroyer? Lit up the deck and did… nothing?
Totally screams light years ahead and prepared.

Yeah..we have numerous weapons that we KNOW about for taking out incoming missiles. I don’t see any drone getting that close unless it’s an alien craft or we let it approach.

Yeah..we have numerous weapons that we KNOW about for taking out incoming missiles.

"Overview
The AEGIS Active Missile/Torpedo Defense System is a massive network of directed energy weapons. Each turret operates independently, targeting and destroying incoming low velocity projectiles with ease. On the Neith Class Heavy Frigate there are 60 independent turrets, the recommended amount for a ship of its size. The AEGIS is not meant for ship-ship combat, rather to deal with torpedoes and missiles. A downside of the weapon is its sensors are designed to target small, fast objects, and will not pick up larger craft, such as Fighters and Boarding Craft

Operation
The laser works like the ones we use today, locking onto projectiles and firing a beam at them, due to the power supply, and the system itself, the beam can generate incredible amounts of heat in seconds, melting through projectiles with ease. The turret will confirm destruction of the projectile and move onto the next target. On a standard Archer Missile, it took .2 milliseconds to burn through the outer casing, and destroy it."

This strikes me as having a high possibility of being a Red Cell operation.

I'd like to agree, but I've also seen 8.25"? floppy disks in the Pentagon in the mid-late 90s. Obsolescence has it's own protective quality.
