You know looking at that map ,and I really hate to say this ,but I see Putin's point. He is virtually surrounded from the West and East and even South East. I do understand he is a former KGB thug that would like to see the USSR reestablished ,but yeah kinda have him surrounded and I do not think that provocation is the way to go at the moment.

The problem is people who think that the Russians are "more or less lile us".

They are not. Not religiously. Not in the way they look at civil life.

Don't hope that Russians are some kind of great whites who you should want.

So you are a sell out. You would break your word to your allies.

We didn't have a problem fricking over our allies when Biden fricked up the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Biden and company couldn't even beat back a third world terror group. But we're somehow supposed to start ww3 against a nuclear power...for supposed allies? I've never met those alleged allies. Will those alleged allies come and fight and die for me if I'm ever in trouble?

Iran also doesn't align with us. Neither do the Saudis. We are kissing their asses nonstop.

The Russia thing... isn't about whether they are like us or not. Idgaf about Russia. I just recognize how unbelievably dumb it is to start ww3 against a nuclear power.

My concern isn't about the lifestyle of Russians. My concern is about what if our propaganda machine is right about how deranged or narcissistic Putin is. If he saw how the leaders of Libya and Iraq were humiliated and killed, their families tortured and destroyed...when we decided it was time to change their regimes.. would Putin just passively allow the same thing to happen to him and his family without throwing out everything he has access to? I mean, if he knows for a fact that he and his will get the libyan leader treatment..and there's no way around it... what are the odds he wants to try to take as many people as humanly possible with him?

Is there some new information i don't know about.... that maybe the info of Russia having nukes and the capabilities of using their nukes on distant countries is nothing but a hoax, and Russia has never had nukes?

Everything you just stated is YOUR completely uneducated opinion. Stop trying to act like you know what you’re talking about

You are woefully ignorant about all of this material. It's hubris like yours that ends up killing our people abroad. It's bad enough we have a ton of idiots in the Pentagon, they don't need your flashing displays of stupidity to cheer them on.
NATO has less than 5% of assets needed to protect Europe

NATO countries shirking their requirements for years are begging for us to save their asses again.

I have sympathy for Eastern Europe because they know what is coming. Western Europe? Less so, as they are the ones who have fricker everyone over the most because they don’t know what it is like under the Soviet boot.

So nice that they'll just stand there and let US troops head to the lines.

and when a Russian invasion comes

What invasion?

The one that would require months of troop buildups along the border?

Is that happening?

No?

This is YOUR boy Joepedo trying to remain in office by any means necessary…up to and including WWIII.

Russia does not have the balls or strength to make ports in Western Europe unusable, which the article references that inspired this X post. Attacking ports in Rotterdam, LeHavre, Antwerp, Hamburg, etc. This would indeed be World War 3, as it should be.

Russia absolutely has the strength to do this. Their industrial base is far superior to ours and they have the munitions to do this. Do they have the balls? Not right now - but they are slowly being forced into a corner and it won't be a matter of having the balls to do it, it will be an existential necessity. We have to remember that you must always do your best to look at things the way the other side looks at things. They won't act based on our calculus. They will act based on theirs.

If Russia is compelled to attack ports and other infrastructure, it's because we will already be in WWIII. And remember, the fricking idiot Ukrainians are going after Russian early warning radar sites. What do you expect Russia to do if its early warning capabilities are degraded and nuclear-capable aircraft are seen by airborne or other assets when it's effectively too late to put up an air defense wall?

If we were blinded and then, when it's too late to stop an attack, we found out that nuclear-capable aircraft were coming up from Mexico, what do you think the calculus looks like? Do we just sit there and wait to find out if Dallas, San Antonio, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and every military command site in that part of the nation is vaporized or do we start launching?

Everything being done right now greatly increases the chances of nuclear war.

Andrei may be full of shite, but he is former Soviet Navy and has written like four books. He repeatedly says the U.S. Navy is great, but the U.S. would be incompetent in a land war without a turkey shoot against defenseless Iraqis. Anyway, this is what he says about hitting back at bases. I think I saw something in western media the other day with numbers like this.
quote:

Keep in mind that the US has a number of bases which are within 60-90 minutes of flight of 3M14 Kalibr or Kh-101, 6-9 minutes by Kinzhal and 3M22 Zircon--US has no means to defend against that. What is in the waters near the US Eastern Sea Board is known only to President Putin and Russian GS. In the end, there are these guys.

Plus all those funny Avangards on combat duty near Orenburg. Good luck surviving those.

Would you rather Russia attack a NATO country without NATO having a readiness plan on how to respond?

Oh wait this is the PT board. Y'all would take up arms for your savior Vlad and fight against NATO and the USA.

Maybe we should reach out to Israel to broker a peace deal with the US and Russia.

Gee, you have a lot of faith in the competency of the Russians. A competency they have yet to demonstrate.

Underestimating potential foes is horribly stupid. This is what I expect from people like Lindsey Graham, who would be excited to see a bunch of flag-draped coffins coming back to the US. I would like to avoid that.

I’m sure the LARPers in the war thread are just beating off to this.

That’s all those LARPers do in that Ukraine thread in the OT. “No the Russians can’t do that, they won’t use a nuke.” Meanwhile, these same mother frickers are claiming that Putin is Hitler and if we don’t stop him in Ukraine then he will take over all of Europe. Just the hypocrisy right there is astounding.

If we’re absolutely forced into a war with Russia, I demand that the LARPers and/or their children and grandchildren be sent to the front line to fight this. They’re fine using Ukrainian and Russian lives like Monopoly money and throwing their corpses away like used tissue, but when it comes to their own lives, no they’re worth more than these Eastern European lives and shouldn’t be expected to fight and just enjoy beating off on the sidelines.

Listen, I remember being slandered as being with the terrorists when I was against the War in Iraq and the Patriot Act, so that dog doesn’t hunt with me.
