Parmen, this moderate quake occurred at a divergent tectonic plate boundary. These are areas where volcanic activity is causing the seafloor to separate. Earthquakes are common at divergent plate boundaries. This is just the earth doing its thing.
I don't think there is a connection to the deaths of the two men.
What is your theory on what's happening?

There as been an increase in the number of "recorded" earthquakes in Antarctica since 2008 because there was a increase in seismic research starting then. Before that there were fewer earthquakes recorded simply because it is a huge continent, and there were few seismometers distributed on the continent to sense the quakes when they occurred.
