You and I both know that no one in their right mind would stay in if put in that same position.
You mean he was making easy money in the National Guard until it was time for him to actually do something.
Don't equate all veterans to the type that joins USAF to play Playstation 3 over seas and avoid combat just because they can, if their ASVAB is high enough. Some people have different cultures and join combat arms because they want to participate in the fight and deploy.

This strikes me as a fair issue to hit Walz on, but Vance needs to be the one to do it with Trump’s history of avoiding service during Vietnam. It’s also a little complicated bc Walz served 24 years and it has to be explained that he knew of deployment before the official order. So, a fair point but don’t let it distract from energy, the border, student loan debt forgiveness, high taxes, woke excess, and being far to the left of most Americans (at least per Harris’s Senate voting record).

No doubt Trump did that, but he didn't then turn around and say he was a combat veteran.

Parhetic how the LWNJs are crying in this thread. Your representatives are pieces of shite, just like you.

he enlisted in a different Vietnam
"It's amazing, I can't even believe it. I've been so lucky in terms of that whole world, it is a dangerous world out there. It's like Vietnam, sort of. It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave solider," Trump said in the interview when Howard Stern asked how he handled making sure he wasn't contracting STDs from the women he was sleeping with.

He'd been in 24 years, dude. As a vet yourself, you know military retirement is 20 years; he was already doing extra time
Not if he had a few bad years, he easily could have been in over 20 years from the day he signed up to the day he got his 20 Year Letter.

Apparently he was planning to stay in long enough to retire as a CSM, even tried to put that in his paper work until the Army corrected him. Guess he was too much of a gutless piece of shite to stay in just a few more years even if that meant a deployment.

You, because you are probably every bit a turd as Walz, maybe but I know lots of senior NCO's who go well beyond their 20 Year Letters, myself included. I know several 1SG's who delayed SMA slots to deploy with their units. For some it means that much, something a short timer like you will never understand.

Almost every soldier I've had to do a TCOS packet on who where 4x4's were pretty much trash. Usually also pissed hot but a TCOS is much faster to get someone out than a DDR packet.

I wouldnt want to be led by someone who is afraid/didnt want to be there due to fear so leadership was probably better that he was gone. Calling him a coward is absolutely fine.

This clown is a coward! Fine and dandy to play weekend warrior for 24 years in the National Guard...but then a funny thing happened to this self-serving weasel...war breaks out!
And just like the roaches run when the lights come on, he high-tailed and left his brothers and sisters to fight the enemy without an experienced senior NCO.
No veteran or military person or their extended family members should even consider putting this coward and the cackling Komala in charge of our beloved country.
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME YOU YELLOW-BELLIED BASTARD!

Walz retired after he heard the unit might be deployed. It was a two-year deployment so Walz was supposed to be with these guys. He brags in his campaign ads to being a Command Sargent Major but this conditional promotion was declared null and void when he failed to meet requirements. Classic Stolen Valor lie on his part.
Posted on 8/8/24 at 2:52 pm to FlexDawg
I don't know about that one. A miltary member can retire anytime after 20 yrs. They can deny any assignment if member wants to.

I'm not flaming. Personally, I think he abandoned his guys. I've read the entire thread and found it enlightening. But I'm not educated as to the meaings(s) of the various abbreviations and nomenclature used in the military. I wish I knew what the abbreviations and nomenclature mean, like TCOS, 4x4's, DDR, etc.
