My NC Ballot Was Returned in the Mail Yesterday

I don't usually check my mail on Sundays - just walked out to the mailbox and to my surprise, I find the POTUS election ballot I submitted 4 weeks ago – there is an attachment that says it was rejected because my witness signature on the outside of the envelope doesn’t match the witness signature on the inside. This is pure ludicrous – my wife signed both and the signatures are a near-identical match (obviously).

We executed ours for each other at the same time (she votes in PA) and her's has yet to be returned...but then again she voted for Biden.

How can we trust our ballots to a system that is so subjective and arbitrary? Who exactly is verifying these signatures? FBI forgery experts? Or a poll volunteer (who is likely an unemployed democrat-leaning person). BTW it is impossible to verify the signatures without seeing that I voted for Trump.

Hopefully the mail will pick it back up today and get it to the polling location before tomorrow (it's in my town) - no way I'm going to the polls in-person.
