Without trying to sound like a smartass, if that's the case, why aren't you asking the person who organizes y'alls program instead of posting on the internet?

If you are signing up to volunteer at the school around the kids or participate in a field trip, they require all parents to go through that. That’s been going on for awhile.

i'm a chaperone for a few different trips at my kids school because they can get so few dads to go (i have pretty flexible work schedule) and i have to fill something similar out every time.

i've yet to touch a minor inappropriately in 40 years of life, but my church and school background check me every single year.

Have never heard of this and would have a trillion questions to whoever is trying to get it. What do they need to run a background check for?

Who is "in charge" of this coop other than other parents? Is there an administration? Who advised about background checks?

If I didn't know all the people involved why would I allow some other parent 100%access to my finances and every aspect of my personal life?

I would say GFY to them and how you ever got involved is a mystery

None of that verbiage means anything unless they asked for a dob and ssn. Period.

If this is a public school I would tell them to pound sand. If it is private I am pulling my kids out of there.

Big nope. while their intentions are probably good, these yayhoos don't need to have every scrap of your personal information that is needed to get the searches done.

With everybody, from Target, to hospitals, to the pentagon being hacked, I don't want Principal Loogie in charge of my life's security.

Thanks anyway.

Well, why don't you sign one of those for me, no DOB or SSN, and let me see what I can do with it. Deal?

I'm not opposed to the background check, but I would not sign that document. If I really wanted to be a volunteer, I would tell them to send me a Word version of the document with tracked changes enabled. Then have an attorney redline the frick out of it, with explanations why the recommended changes. Send it back for them to share with their attorney. If they reject it outright, without sending to their attorney, then you can sue on the grounds of unreasonable lack of accomodations. You do not have to give up your rights to privacy. They have a right to a background check. The background information should not belong to a political school district, where it can be used against you. It should be with a registered security agent subject to privacy laws. School districts are too shielded from such laws. All the school district needs to know is "did you pass or did you fail?" That's it. Nothing else.

You’re a random stranger on the internet, if I were volunteering at my kids school I’d gladly sign one for the school.

Some of y’all are looking way too hard for something to be offended over. I thought y’all supported protecting kids from pedophiles?

Probably right. Speaking of Target.

Nothing says school essentials like kids of opposite sex playing around together in their underwear.

This poster is part of a group of 300 kids that are being homeschooled as a group. That means that the release will be going to some parent who will be able to look up every inch of this person's financial life and credit and everything else

If you want your neighbors looking into all of your bank accounts your mortgages your credit cards your education and everything else have at it. Big no from me.

Pass or Fail is fine, but the organization is providing no visible assurance of the type of data to be accessed other than their version of, "whatever we want." How long will the results be retained? Is the coop authorized to "refresh" the check without your explicit approval? Why does OP have to grant them authorization to consult with financial institutions for a field trip, etc.

Too many unanswered questions regarding privacy practices. If you had the experience some of us have in privacy and information security, you wouldn't be quite so blase.

Ah, but someone will eventually use the search function on TD, and may find this treasure trove of knowledge.
