My doctor today had no idea what Novavax is.

She literally googled it while I was sitting in front of her. Am I wrong to think this is something a doctor should at least know about and be able to opine on?

In life I’ve found that somewhere around 25% of people are truly competent at what they do for a living, this is true of doctors just as it is plumbers or anyone else

A regular family doctor. My old doctor left the practice and they stuck me with this new lady. This is my second time seeing her and I'm not feeling it.

It really proves what a sad state our medical system is in when I can save more lives than Doctors today.

My wife's gastroenterologist was recommending that she get a covid vaccine yesterday. I had told her to wait for the Novavax before she gets one. She mentioned that to him and he told her he had never heard of it.

You initially think that with all their intellect, examination, education, motivation, responsibility, that they would all be knowledgeable and effective.
But like everything, there are good doctors and bad doctors.
I’m reminded of a line from Louis CK about an appointment with his doctor: “It was amazing, all his training and education and intellect, how he used none of it. Absolutely none of it.”

One of the things I have realized since March 2020 is that most doctors and nurses would be lost without the ability to Google.

My wife’s niece will be a doctor. She is in med school and makes straight As. I also wonder if she is mentally retarded sometimes.

Basically. Have to self diagnose almost and just get permission from the doc for the meds. Sad state of affairs. Hard to find a good doctor.
