Went to purchase a rifle today and was told my background check was on a 6 day hold because it didn’t clear fast enough. Seeing as I have nothing worse than a speeding ticket on my record I must be on some sort of minor list. Possibly because I post here Anyway the lady said it’s been happening more often since Covid. Anybody else run into this issue?

Store called me back at 4 yesterday that they received a proceed. Also the ammo was $28 for 50 rounds.

Do you have a common name like John Smith? I do, and I always get flagged. I thought about going through the CCW process (even though we have CC now) just to bypass that crap.

If you have a common last name, it happens often. I have family members who are "Smiths", and they get held up constantly. Some big box stores will proceed with the sale after a few days as long as they don't get a No Sale returned.

My last name is anything but common. I think me and my son might be the only males left. The lady said before Covid if a check didn’t clear in so many seconds it just got kicked to another person (a middle man so to speak) that step has been removed. Now if it doesn’t clear in so many seconds it’s a auto 6 day hold. She said it happened to her husband and he has a CCL. Pain in the arse. I was looking forward to shooting my new rifle today.

Last pistol I bought was held. I had to come back the next day. Infringment.

Gun store put it off on how many people I share a name with, and how many of those are shitbags. Still an infringement.

All purchases are now held 2 weeks to stop the spread of mass shootings.

Well at least once the timer runs out you are good. They tried extending this one time for indefinite time.

Brady rule is 3 days. Means they have to give it to after three days if nothing comes back.

3 times I’ve tried to buy a gun over the years I had to come back because the “NCIS system is down” or “slow”. Not my problem, give me my gun and I’ll be on my way. A couple of shops wanted me to pay and then come back. Frick you. I pay, I’m leaving with it.

I've been in a 2A holding pattern for 108 days now waiting on a piece of pipe to screw on the end of my rifle. Pretty ridiculous.

Lady said sometimes they call back in 2 hours, 2 days, or not at all. She said if they don’t call back at all I could pick it up Wednesday. They had a arse ton of .223 ammo also so I was looking forward to my afternoon.

No, it’s an infringement. I would think you’ve seen the 2A posted here before. Do you need to see it again?

Would it be an infringement if you had to get government approval for a lawyer? Or how about getting permission to speak?

I think they look up voter status as you can any soul is the USA and if you are a non democrat they look for shite. They will send the marine patrol to see if you have a fishing license to get yo arse.

I registered R JUST FOR TRUMP. I changed it back to unaffiliated and I can't say here why but life is better.

My BiL has the same name as a terrorist and gets flagged every time he flew or buys a gun.

It’s better now but most of the 2000s and 2010s sucked for him.

Has SCOTUS taken a case on waiting periods recently? I can only remember that they denied cert on a waiting period law back during Trump's administration. Thomas dissented from the writ denial if I recall correctly.

I would be interested to see how SCOTUS analyzes the infringement issue in this context.

They were nice enough to put my name on it and put it in the back with the ammo I picked out.

The fact that the requirement to ask for permission to exercise my God given right means that the SCOTUS (at least at the time the law was passed) were nothing but robed tyrants, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for a constitutional ruling.

Do you have a security clearance? It doesn't make sense to me but I ordered a rifle awhile back and had it shipped to one of the dealers around here. The background check took over a week and the dealer said he sees it happen a lot to folks with a security clearance
