I hate Pete but this is an odd thing to be mad about. If they were touting his sexuality you'd be complaining like "ugh why do they have to keep pushing his sexuality on us!"

This alone tells you that most folks are not cool with the gay. Look no further than the Democratic lady in Iowa who wanted to change her vote once she found out about Pete's sexuality.

I don't think it's an anger thing.

And. It isn't about them touting it.

But they clearly are AVOIDING it and they're doing so because it would harm him in the primaries and EVERYONE knows it.

It doesn't matter if we think it's silly that it would harm him. We know it would

We already had a gay and black POTUS, so it’s a non-event now.

Well that analyst is an idiot. Biden is just a walking failure. He should've walked away with this thing. He is the one candidate that can get all the Dems on board. Some dont want a socialist. Some won't vote for a gay man. All he had to do was be kinda ok, but he has been a joke of a candidate. It was on a silver platter

I felt the same way a year ago. But since then I've read 2 books that covered the importance of intersectionality. It's real and it's huge with Dem voters. If you're not a member of at least one marginalized group you have no validity.

I have to admit that I find it extremely odd that they have given very little attention to the fact that the first openly gay presidential candidate just won the first state primary and is leading in New Hampshire. What's their reason? Nervous that the deep south democrats aren't a fan of homosexuality?
And if they gave it attention, half the board would be complaining at all the attention it's getting.

So strange.

What is odd about it? Everyone knows he is gay. This isn't a story because he is out and totally upfront about it. No one but Neanderthals give a frick that he is gay.

Everyone knew Hillary was a woman and Obama was black (yes, I know, half-black), but you damned sure heard about their gender and race in every fricking news story.

Does the media explicitly talk about his (or Bernies or Warrens or Bidens or Klobuchars) heterosexuality as a defining characteristic?
no because it’s normal

well Biden might be a pedo and they’re trying to get accepted lol

But this is false. Bernie proves you don’t have to be in any of these groups if your ideas are good enough to win

It’s not “historic” because the first openly gay person could be getting the nomination of a major party?

For a political party that loves to talk about firsts for race, gender, etc., them not rolling with this about Mayor Pete is obvious why. Everyone who has been aboard the inclusion train should be disappointed, but I'm feeling the John Travola/Pulp Fiction gif belongs here.

Most people don’t, but a lot of people do.

Welcome to reality.

Personally, I don’t care if they bang their dog in the privacy of their home.

All I care about are their policies and actions in office.

On one hand it's refreshing.

On the other it's a little funny that after Hillary and Barack being touted as "firsts" so often that it's not being engineered.

I thought so too until I read the story of the Iowa caucus lady who asked for her vote back after learning Mayor Pete was gay.
