So, what if the US granted work visas like say, Canada does, where the only entry into the country, was because there was a labor shortage or because you seek asylum or because you wish to study, or you are a tourist..., that is ok?

If the ag industry would be wiped out but for migrant workers, sure. A couple issues is that they are terrible at following up with folks who lapse their visas (huge issue with euro illegals who came for school and never left), and if it was temporary, would they pay taxes and have access to schools for their kids?
When the farms essentially dictate how they live, and it isn't great, there is little upward mobility for the kids, and they just become another net loss at the hands of ag.

Remove all illegals from this country. As the liberals like to say "if it saves one innocent life". Tell all illegals they have 1 year to beat feet. As they leave they should check in with border patrol. The first to leave will be given first shot at returning legally after being fully vetted. After 1 year, you are gone from this country forever! As for this particular illegal that murdered Mollie Tibbets, take him behind an Iowa barn and deal with him.

What parent tells their kid: "You know, I want you to grow up and pick crops in 100° blazing sun all day." No, the parent sends their kid to college so they don't have to do that work. And if native people stop doing that work, what are the farmers supposed to do? Go out of business?
We have too many uppity white OT_ballers sitting on their asses making $400k in some office building bitching about illegals working hard arse labor jobs. Ask these uppity white folks if they want their kids doing the work and they will invariably say "hell no."
I hate the idea of illegal immigration and it sucks we are so lazy as a society that we can't fill these jobs. But it is what it is. I can't blame the farmers - they want to stay in business. In the old days people had no choice - they had to do these jobs or starve. My dad had to work on farms in the south as a kid and he hated it. Everyone did. It is hard arse shitty work. But there was literally NO OTHER options back then.
These days there are many more options, so people naturally gravitate to easier work, leaving a void of candidates for the dirty jobs.

Good point, but Iowa ain't San Francisco. Granted that Iowa City is a lefty hell hole and SANCTUARY CITY...but if they get some rural Iowa jurors instead of lefty university employees justice should be served.
