I kind of thought that was the point for 2016. Appearance of a more strait laced religious conservative.
If Trump picks a woman like Biden did, I would think it is more for the appearance and appeal to women.
The religious folk that have been voting for him will continue to. Or at least not flip and vote Biden.

Maybe, but I think you are being too cavalier. This election isn’t about you. Everyone knows who you are voting for. This election is about the center. Who is going to get it? There are many long-time Republican voters who are wrestling with whether to vote for the unstable a-hole or whether to stay home or maybe vote for Biden. These are people who are, by nature, weathervanes, and everything like this is a puff of wind. By himself Pence won’t change the outcome, but if enough big names do the same it sure might.

If Pence had any sway over "the center" (however the hell that is defined or determined), I would think he'd have been polling at more than 1% at some point during his sad attempt at a primary run.
