That’s a great quote. We just need to engage in some light insider trading to support our families, said every drug dealer, thief, conman and fraudster.

Congress and the whitehouse should each have a financial management advisor. If you work for Congress or the whitehouse, your publicly traded securities get managed by the advisor.

And god forbid they treat time in Congress as true civil service vs a career.

Sacrifice?

Less Qualified?!

You're the most powerful governing body on the planet you lying frick! You're literally immune from most laws, get your name written into history, and already notorious for the abuse of power while achieving nothing. A few hundred thousand dollars, even millions, doesn't replace what you people get in return.

And have you seen the qualifications of our governing body, and their relationship to legitimate Subject Matter Experts?

You have people who have no military experience, and some with no appropriate management experience, starting, running, and losing wars.

You bring in people who have absolutely no credentials in the fields they are to oversee and who refuse to listen to individuals who have spent their lives in service of not only others but to the fields that are vital for the advancement of civilizations, thus making it ripe for corruption, incompetence, and mismanagement. Then, when the problems come, you use your pulpits to destroy the reputations of the very people who warned against your actions, all to feather your own nests.

You follow whatever flavor-of-the-month fallacy that will bump you up a couple of points no matter what the cost based ENTIRELY on what it brings you monetarily and power-wise.

Every ONE of you is replaceable, and right now I'd give all four limbs to restart Congress.

I think the money under the table is plenty. You don’t have to game stocks, too.

If you get rich in office, are you really a public servant?

Only Mike Johnson could bring the entire PT together on this issue.

Mike Johnson is just another crooked lawyer and lawyers have zero business running our government.

He's not. But that's essentially what he's asking for unless I'm missing something. If they couldn't touch their stocks during their term, no trading at all, I'd be ok with them keeping them.

Was that taken the right context? He said it’s the counter argument, and he has sympathy, but he didn’t say it’s his position.

I think I know the answer but hope I’m wrong

They’re supposed to be public servants serving at the pleasure of their constituents. I wish we could get rid of congress or shrink it severely. Too many idiots already encroaching on personal liberties of those who didn’t elect them.
