If 200k is in the top 5% of income as you stated and you aren’t saying he’s middle class, then there is no middle class.

There is essentially no middle class in New Orleans proper. You have people who are poor, and then people who are upper middle class at a minimum.

So what would you say an $120-130k annual combined income with a college age and middle school aged kid at home, fall.
with the cost of things right now, I would call this middle class. Maybe upper middle. But Money isn't stretching as far even with this combined income.

He said Louisiana. There is no way you have two cars insured in Louisiana for $150.
I’m at $120/month for good comprehensive coverage on 2 cars with Progressive.

What is “good comprehensive.” You either have comp or you don’t. Comp coverage is cheap. Do you have collision or just comp? What are your liability limits? What is your uninsured motorist limits?

I don’t understand how the median household income is $60k. Ain’t no way that’s real. Nobody can survive on that with kids

Don't be married. Mom and 2 kids on Medicaid and govnt assistance (including housing allowance). Guy "spends" the night there.
I see it all the time. Poor mom would be using the latest iPhone ordering nice restaurant takeout.

Why do people out leverage their money by sticking themselves with a $2000 mortgage?
My mortgage is $629 and that’s with a terrible interest rate. I put $56k down. I purchased a starter home at age 22. I used the equity in that home to purchase my next home. I then used the equity in that home about 8 years later to purchase this home. That’s with single income and was even unemployed during a small span of that.
To the people that have a $2000 mortgage, did you consider saving money a little longer so that you wouldnt have the weight of a $2000 payment over the next 30 years?
