The Mexican Cartels are practically an extension of the Mexican government. I've said for years the US needs to take the American Dream to the people south of the US/Mexico border, no need to make the dangerous trip, we'll bring it to ya.

This thread is now 4-pages deep, but I am wondering how the Cartels got their hands on SAMs from Russia and Ukraine. And why would they think they need them?

These guys seem to operate with impunity and there is no real effort, let alone threat from the Mexican government. Why would they need SAMs?
Chinese FN-6's (3k meters) and/or QW-1's (and variants) (4k meters).

The QW-1's are probably in abundance now. Hezbollah showed up with a bunch of them after they were used sparingly in Syria/Iraq. I.e., the "market" was flooded by them sometime around 2021 coincidentally when Biden sent his first pallet of cash to Iran.

Generally the cartels only kill people who cross them / compete with them / get in their way.

They aren’t killing a random who doesn’t want to buy drugs.

Pablo Escabor blew up a plane midflight. Escobar was indiscriminately blowing up markets and setting bombs across Columbia. His purpose was to create a reign of terror so bad that the government would back off. Same shite as the snackbars.

The current crop of narcos aren't any more peaceful.

Some points to make in a US..Cartel conflict. We would not be operating at the end of a thousands of miles long supply chain logistically.

Not to mention we DO have people experienced at fighting this kind of war.the US Military has been at it for decades The Cartels are NOT the Taliban. They are thugs by and large, some have training but you attrit them right off.

Would you say these returnees are acting more like intel assets overall? Go to the US spend time , get deported and then get sought out for debrief?

Yeah, they should consider October 7 and Hamas. Trump is just waiting for a good rationale to hit the Cartels and dare the Mexican government to object.

With manpads? Lol

Thought the same. Unless they post up near the airport the flights are landing at, those planes should be high enough to be out of reach of those weapons

If you ever want to see how much the Mexican govt hamstrings their own people, look into Autodefensas.

They told the Mexican govt to GFT and started their own posse with long guns. It became a safe area as a result until the govt came in and arrested ol boy who may or may not have had a shady past.

You presuppose that these guys don't learn. Stuff like what Escobar did only enhanced the Cali guys who ultimately stepped in and changed how the cartels down there did business. Plus the cartels of 35 years ago are not the same as the cartels of today. They have had at least a generation or more to accumulate ridiculous money and to know what our side does.

A DEA agent once told me that he arrested a high end drug dealer.....an American who when interrogated proceeded to tell the agent the agent's address , wife's name, kids names and where they went to school. He said, you do homework on us, we do homework on you. We know you and your whole team....and then named them. Freaked the guy out. Drug dealer spent time in a Supermax after that. But not before Uncle Sam relocated the families and bought them new houses in different locales.

Drug dealer was replaced by someone else who was even more dangerous

Even down low, the engines are spread out, you would need multiple manpads to take down a C-17 not counting the counter measures on board.

At some point desperation will set in. Avenues to get drugs in this country are drying up, especially w the wall.

I can’t begin to imagine the regret a cartel would experience even if they tried and missed. All hell would rain down on them.

It won’t be 100 soldiers showing up in 20 jeeps/trucks with antiquated weapons.

Blackhawks, Warthogs, and drones just to start. A true bloodbath. US Military will make Mexican military seem like a high school ROTC squad with wooden guns.

We probably know where to hit right now and could drop in 20 tomahawks and reduce the threat by 80% by tomorrow morning.

I think I watched a video on that, I, it was indeed disheartening. Deep State Mexican Government is the same as here when it come to control They’ll let the rogues rampage but slam the private ‘vigilantes’ who act in defense of their beloved and property. That dog won’t hunt for much longer.

You sure our military has it together like that?

All that is needed is to drone the Cartels to death. We don't even have to risk one American soldier. We have the technology to easily do this if we want.
