Alabama has been given a court order to not redraw until 2030. They legally cannot right now.

it is well past time to fight fire with fire - seems to me a SCOTUS ruling should supersede that lower court ruling

why in the blue hell don't we (Republicans) initiate a lawsuit to force the state of Alabama to redraw?

sure, there may not be time to fix it for this election; but I can promise you this is what Dems would do & it would certainly fix things for 2028 and it MIGHT help this time

Yes, of course they can. The SCOTUS ruling yesterday specifically mentions they would have found this exact same way in the Bama redistricting case if the state had brought the same arguments.

The Alabama case is independent of the Louisiana case, as far as I can tell. Definitely want Alabama to redistrict, but don't want to get embarrassed doing it lol.

The SCOTUS' ruling yesterday over rules lower court orders. MeeMaw Ivey can delay the primary by 60 days (7/15/26), hold run offs 60 days after that (9/15/26) and be ready for the November election. Where there's a will there's a way.

I know for a fact the old gal has folks chirping in her ear about this very option, as she sips her Metamucil laced coffee this morning.

Why can't an Alabama citizen bring a suit once the SC ruling is certified?

Marshall should be filing the brief with SCOTUS last night to say the ruling should be dropped with this news.

Then suspend the primary and then call the special session.

The problem is she put out a ChatGPT statement that basically showed she couldn’t give a shite. She won’t even speak publicly about this because she can’t. It’s just press releases from her chief of staff.

I'm sure that could be done, but really we shouldn't have to and would take much longer than simply calling a special session. Our governor should just do the right thing.

I'll stand up for MeeMaw on this particular topic. She took over an embarrassing situation when the "Luv Guv" Robert Bentley faced impeachment and was forced to resign. She had a massive cleanup job. She's restored a sense of decency after that shitshow.

When a person reaches an age where they wear Depends undergarments and require "companions" help them handle daily hygiene & dressing functions, they are passed their useful life.

It's time Kay took to the rocking chairs on the porch at Lake Jordan.
