Yes, that's what I believe also. It's not praying to Mary, it's praying with Mary. Pray to the Trinity

But that is not what the catholic religion teaches, it teaches that you should pray to Mary and the saints. As you know (I assume you're catholic) the catholic religion believes that each saint has a particular area or "specialty" to pray to them for. Ehich is a man-made interpretation.

I'm Orthodox, my way has never been to pray to them but with them, or ask them to pray for us.

Look im honestly not here to point fingers on who is "wrong" but point out that man has flawed the interpretations of the Bible many of times.

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

You only worship God and Jesus is the only mediator between us and God.

You don't pray to OR with dead saints. That is necromancy.

the supposed practice of communicating with the dead,

I don’t want to really get into it either. Let me just say we are all sinners, all separated from God because of our sin, and Jesus came here and died to pay for our sins to restore us to himself. That’s who I’m praying to and through. Jesus is the only one with the power to save.

I agree man has confused Gods will. Thank God we have his word to guide us.

Praying to Mary is very powerful. Especially the rosary!
What Son is not going to do anything for His Mother!

All the Protestants quoting the Bible. The Catholic Church compiled the Bible.

I was taught in catechism that pray has two meanings, request and request with worship. Catholics pray to Mary and the saints in terms of a request, not worship. It would be as if you were asking for a prayer from a friend. We only worship the Father his son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

The saints are not dead. They are in heaven or they wouldn't be saints. And my reference point is the eternal now.

Just messin' with ya. Good stuff. Meanwhile, we Protestants will pray to her Son and ask Him to protect the First Family, too.

You do realize Mary protected Jesus when He was a child. She protected Him first.
Also, Mary is the Mother of Jesus. The 4th Commandment says "Honor your father and your mother." Jesus honors Mary perfectly. If Mary asks Jesus for something, such as, "They have no wine." Jesus honors his mother's request even if His time has not yet come. Whatever Mary requests from Jesus, shed gets.
The Our Father says "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" It is God's Will that children honor their father and mother. Since Mary is the Mother of Jesus He will honor her request on earth and in heaven.
What role do you think Mary has in heaven since she is the Mother of God the Son (Jesus)?
Ask Mary to protect Trump, she tells Jesus to protect Trump, Jesus says my time to protect Trump has not yet come, but protects Trump any way. Why? because Jesus is the best Son. A good Son will honor the good request of his mother. Trump is now protected because Mary asked Jesus to protect Trump.

good grief. what part of the Bible do you read that says Mary can do anything whatsoever to help people? Pray to Christ or pray to God Almighty. Mary can't do anything.

This here. I've never understood asking Mary for anything. But I digress

Do you read your Bible? If so, then you remember the couple ran out of wine at the Wedding at Cana. Mary told Jesus, they are out of wine. Jesus told Mary, "My time has not yet come." The rest is history. Jesus performed His first miracle by changing water into wine just because His mother asked. Mary did not do anything, but ask. Mary knew if she asked her Son she would receive. If we ask Mary to ask her son like the couple at the wedding did, then we shall receive, not by our asking, but by the mother of Jesus asking. "thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" means we can ask Mary who is in heaven with Jesus, and she will continue to ask Him any intentions we place in her hands. We pray for one another on earth, does anyone plan to NOT pray for others once they get to heaven? We are not going to ignore all on earth once we get to heaven. IF our name is called while in heaven and petitions are placed in our hands from earth, we will continue to do God's will while in heaven, but we will do it perfectly.

The Church merely received that which God provided.

Don’t fall into the typical trap of taking glory from God to glorify men.

While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” -Matt. 12:46-50
Jesus is Lord, not Mary, and Jesus does the will of His father, not His mother. She may ask anything but Jesus is not obligated to do anything just because she has asked.

Christ is our mediator, not Mary.

Well none of that is disputable. But why not go directly to the source? You don't need Marys assistance for God to answer your prayers. He said he would answer if you came to him.

I'm not saying there is anything WRONG with asking Mary to pray WITH us´, but seems unnecessary since God is listening to us already via his son.
