Many Want the Filibuster Repealed for the SAVE Act - This Would Have Dire Consequences

The filibuster is a double-edged tool designed to protect minority rights and encourage bipartisanship in a 50-50-ish Senate.
Eliminating it for SAVE Act would likely lead to retaliation when Democrats regain the majority (on issues like voting rights, guns, climate, etc.).
Many institutionalists in both parties resist full repeal for legislation precisely to avoid turning the Senate into a pure majoritarian body like the House.
I agree with this, and I think those who believe they want the filibuster repealed should understand the implications.
We can have a separate debate some other time on how the SAVE Act was poorly written and doomed from the start.

Dims will do it regardless if they get control of the Senate. Do it now to keep that from happening.

It took two Democrats to save the filibuster a few years ago, Sinema and Manchin. Where are they now?

Sometimes we have to put our principles above party.

There is some value in forcing the Viles to take a strong pro-filibuster stance but there's no chance their lapdog media will call them on it when they pull the about face the very first time ithe opportunity comes up.

Hint, they aren't too scared. They mirror the democrats on immigration, border policy and foreign affairs.
The democrats have already announced if they get even a tinge of power back, they will do far worse than break a filibuster. Why waste time arguing this?

This is why we have a bicameral legislature, an executive branch, and a judicial branch. If the minority can not secure at least one of those four elements, then it should have no right to keep the majority from advancing its agenda.

Muslims and Socialists are carving out their own pseudo-States in many places and the lifetime appointments of partisan Judges are defending their (Constitutional?) Right to do so.
Go figure.
Go figure.

That's great if both sides actually cared about our country.
The problem is the Dems only care about outcomes, not process.

You’re retarded and they all call it the filibuster when it’s actually the talking filibuster which is a recent creation so senators never have to go to work. They can just say they filibuster vocally and not have to do anything.
It’s complete bullshite and a cop out so they don’t have to work or vote on things how they secretly want to that would probably get them voted out at election time

Lose the zombie filibuster.
Make them talk. Publicly.
Make them block other legislation and Senate business. Publicly.
Make them fricking stand at their desks and explain their opposition. Publicly.
This, plus other rules already in place limiting how many times (and for how long) Senators cans speak on a bill will force actual votes on legislation and nominees.

Only two did last time.
They were ostracized by the left.
Just admit that you support the evil that has taken over the Democratic Party at the national level. They hate America, and so do you.

I can't see any Democrat senator, besides perhaps John Fetterman, who would vote to keep the filibuster. They want complete and total power.

There is a constant theme on this board where people like SFP and me say, don't do this, it sets a bad precedent and Dems will shut it down your throat one day. The typical response is, they are going to do it, anyway, we need to go full throttle now while we can.

Both of them said there were at least a half dozen more who’d rather not tip their hand but would if they had to. DINOs.

Is this where we’re pretending as though Dems won’t scrap the filibuster the moment they have a majority?
Is that what we’re doing ITT?
