The Japanese were already a “together” people. If their emperor hadn’t surrendered, they would have fought until the last man, even knowing it was futile, because of their “honor”. That’s why we couldn’t attempt to assassinate the emperor like we would’ve done to Hitler. Kill Hitler and a couple of his generals and the Germans would have given up. Kill Hirohito and the Japs would’ve fought until they were all dead.
