They may be going but how the hell are they going to operate, maintain or fuel them. Nobody there can operate or maintain them and run off of jet fuel at 3 gallons per mile. There is no infrastructure to support this.
Short answer is we are going to train, maintain, fuel these tanks. That will involve great potential for American boots on the ground. In a support role, of course [cough].
Ukraine is a big country. Abrams tanks are sophisticated, gas guzzling behemoths that require a lot of maintenance and fuel. It’s a little naive to think we’re going to sit in Poland while these tanks are fighting hundreds of miles away in eastern Ukraine. Coupled with the small numbers, I think 31, and there is significant risk. Burning or abandoned Abrams on the battlefields would be an embarrassment. That cannot be allowed to happen.
So where are we headed? I think there is great and dangerous potential for a lot more tanks to be sent, I’m talking hundreds, and the required boots on the ground to keep them operational. I think this is a dangerous escalation.

Probably some Americans will go over with tanks. For "consulting" purposes"
How many really believe that SEAL who was just killed was AWOL?
It is a shame to sully the good names of these men being forced to fight the WEF/Biden war.

I've been told they are high maintenance even as tanks go
i'll have you know that's my wife!
She's high maintenance or big as a tank, or both?

Yes from what I’ve heard it refuses to take direction and just fires off randomly at whatever it determines to be a threat.

We can just send over the Taliban Abrams tank mechanics to take care of the maintenance.

Biden and the rest of the great reset are going to get everyone in Ukraine killed.

Are we sending them 31 of our M1A2s or are we blowing the dust off of the M1A1s? Your link confused me on this point.

Would they need any refurbishing?

I read somewhere this morning m1a1 fep's.

There was a time that the armor on the M1 was classified top secret.
The tanks will most likely head to Houston from Ft.Hood to loaded on a ship. Then maybe over to Poland to be offloaded.
Can be done in less than 2 weeks.
Do any National Guard units have any M1s ?

Why not send them directly to Russia, avoid the middle man.

Minor stuff. Even replacing the power pack is pretty simple and fast. The only thing making this slow down is typical gov red tape.

They weigh 90K and brides or roads cannot support the weight
The soviets purposely built their bridges to not support the weight of an m60 tank. This is already an issue in poland.

That is to take the thing down to bare metal - it's a complete overhaul. There are videos on youtube. Pretty interesting. To just take stuff sitting in the motorpool and get it ready to ship, that's super easy by comparison.
