And I don't get the rush to white knight for her either.

The reaction is due in part to it never have been seen before at this level, and the chick from Wimbledon bowing out last month.

There’s also been that “protect xxxxxx at all costs” trend and she’s been one of the common names. Insinuating people would come for her and no matter what you defend. Which is silly.

I don’t get the race to defend or to make her a hero. She’s a human struggling. Why do I need to be the fastest to say whether she handled her pressures properly without having any idea what they are.

Not doing that. I look at it like so many other crash and burns we've seen throughout sports on the big stage. Car crash you can't help to rubberneck. Sucks, but I feel bad, not mad.

That's the piece of shite media. I may have missed any SJW bullshite from her, and apologize if I did, but I haven't seen any of it prior to these Olympics. Just because they've latched onto her is not her fault. They're fricking leaches.

@NorthGwinnettTiger - just to clarify, I didn't direct the 'whtie knighting' comment towards you, but others out there who claim her tapping out was the bravest thing - Ever!

I get the “I can’t handle the pressure, I give”. Truly. However, this isn’t something that just popped up. If she’s going to yell “mercy” then it should have been far enough in advance to allow her teammates to compensate. It’s not just screwing the U.S., it’s screwing her TEAM that really chaps my arse.

Was just telling the wife..."I get pissed when my team's players keep getting run back out while sucking, yelling "get his bitch arse outta there"...mad at the team for not benching.

She realizes she currently sucks, and we're yelling "Get your bitch arse back in there". She fricks up and it comes out later she knew she wasn't right in the head..."Why the frick didn't you step back?"

No win.

Just a sad way to go out.

Negative. Jordan regularly made jumps that could have broken bones if he didn't land properly and everyone on the planet knows who he is. I had no idea who this Biles person was until a few days ago and i'm an American.

Yep. During the middle of a game in the NBA Finals. I had forgotten about that. Great analogy.

That came to light four years ago. So we are to believe it has only reared its head when she didn't win gold for the first time and had an uncharacteristic day?

Roberto Durán held world championships in four weight classes, and was considered the greatest lightweight boxer in history. Yet his legacy is written in two words, "No más".

Biles sullied her legacy. Sorry you find the fact offensive. Just as I'm sorry Biles chose to trek to Tokyo instead of retiring and pursuing a career based on an untarnished legacy.

Mitigating consequences of bad decisions, as you attempt to do, is no service. E.g., Biles says she was "inspired" by Naomi Osaka quitting at Wimbledon. That's why successful people don't celebrate bad decisions. Instead, we learn from consequences so we'll not repeat the mistake. The worse the consequences, the harder the lesson. The harder the lesson, the longer the memory of it.

why are liberal males such weak pathetic beings? The amount of soy it takes to vote Democrat as a white male is remarkable. You are voting for the people that blame you for all of America’s problems

It's become unclear if she was truly injured/at risk.

First they said it was to focus on mental health. Which pretty much sounded like quitting. The white knights of the web rallied.

Now they ascribe her stoppage to a condition similar to vertigo. Which certainly sounds like it could be dangerous for her to compete.

Why not say that from the outset? Everyone would have understood that. It makes me think the former is the truth and the latter is the damage control.

The gymnasts generally consider the "twisties" to be about nerves, something like mind over matter.

Personally I don't care if it is a mild concussion, ear infection, or anxiety. If you are getting disoriented in mid air you probably shouldn't compete until you get your senses back.

So again why not say that from the beginning? 99% of the world would understand and say that makes sense. But they decided to go the mental health route which sounds a lot more like quitting…so which is it?

If you think she withdrew due to pressure, you are a moron.
