The proper word is decadence. America is decadent . And I’m not talking about surfing porn. I’m talking about entitlement and lack of gratitude for one’s blessings and the entire Woke movement that has no idea how much suffering people around the world have to endure as a matter of geographical chance. In short, we are beyond “ soft “ and more like a self- worshiping soft.

At least he took the shot. That’s more than she can say.

If Michael Jordan missed a shot he didn't risk a crippling injury.

Every time an athlete walks onto a field or an arena they run the risk of serious injury. That being said, I'm getting tired of people putting words into this woman's mouth. She said she dropped out because of the pressure and because she wasn't having fun. Not once did she mention the fear of injury or some kind of chronic mental condition such as anxiety or depression.

The yarns that are being spun to turn her decision into something heroic are as long as they are stupid.

If MJ doesn't hit the shot, he doesn't risk breaking an ankle, or worse.

If her head isn't in it, fine. She could get seriously injured if her focus is not what it needs to be.

I get it. There are a few sports which are different. But let's not go overboard and claim this is more than it is.

Biles shouldn’t be celebrated for quitting, nor should she be chastised. I think the recent Naomi Osaka saga was divisive, and is doing a disservice to biles.

For Biles, it sounds like a mental issue, but not a mental health issue. In fairness to her, if she gets the “yips”, she does risk far greater injury than say someone like chuck knoblauch who’d just airmail a routine groundout into the stands.

I don't get the rush to vilify her. She had a mental headfrick, and bowed out. Sucks for her, but she's not some SJW taking knees or being some irredeemable count for likes. She's kicked arse for years, had a lapse and didn't want to frick herself up.

Now if rappinoe or some of these others crashed and burned...frick em and lol.

I don’t see her as a villain nor a hero for quitting on her team.

Winningest? Yes. Greatest? No. Russell's Cetics teams were loaded with future HOFers. Wilt Chamberlain was straight up better than Russell in the same era.

Great player that didn't need the roids. Reggie Jackson is a better example. You don't get a nickname like Mr. October without rising to the occasion on the big stage.

Otherwise I agree with your take. Win or lose, all of America was behind her.

We probably shouldn’t expect the same things from a 20 yr old girl that we expect from Micheal Jordan or really any male...

Scottie Pippen did take himself out of a playoff game because the play wasn't drawn up for him, which seems far worse.

That's why he was Robin and not Batman.

And I don't get the rush to white knight for her either.

The reaction is due in part to it never have been seen before at this level, and the chick from Wimbledon bowing out last month.

Some might say that because she didn't do the routine she wanted to, she knew she'd not win the gold, so she simply quit.

Others can point to the fact that she lost her focus, which caused her to not complete the routine she had planned on as why she tapped out, and the fact that she wasn't going to win the gold is a distant second in terms of importance.

Others who came before her face as much if not more pressure ( thinking of the old Soviet gymnasts who either won or their families got sent to Siberia ) and either took the L or won despite the adversity.

I'm bummed she didn't continue, but if she's fine with it, then I hope the best for her and maybe she'll make another run at it? I'm guessing that's unlikely, as the sport doesn't really lend itself to those over 20. We shall see.
