He's receiving pushback because it's fricking stupid

Furk this Dan Patrick clown.
This is just another in a long line of retardedness that Texans have to deal with.
I haven’t heard anything positive about the guy.

Yeah that is partially because weed makes you not want to do anything. So there is that. It also smells bad. Look I am for legalizing it so I am not saying I don't like it therefore you cannot do it. I quit drinking and that was tough to do, but I feel so much better now for it.
This isn’t weed he wants to ban. It’s THC infused products (gummies, cookies, drinks, etc.). From Hemp not marijuana. Less than .03%.
But of course there are manufacturers that are going too far by making like 500mg gummy’s which might need to be under better control.
He claims it’s targeted towards kids, which can be a valid argument. But he definitely has skin in the game being he wants to ban it completely. His press conference proved he is desperate to get the media on his side.
I quit drinking alcohol as well. It was destroying my health and marriage. My life is so much better now. I do enjoy a THC infused beer or seltzer now and then when playing golf or by the pool. Totally different mood after consuming THC vs alcohol. THC is legit calming and chill inducing while when drinking alcohol I become a drunk who can’t get enough until I end up on a 6 day bender and end up in ER and/or sleeping under a different roof than my wife and kids.

quote:Ditto. Once THCa products became available, I tried these and learned I can set out about a task, my earbuds in and playing Spotify tunes streamed from my watch, have engaging conversations if someone wants to chat, but I can just work or cook or get really into a movie (especially if the wife isn't home and I can listen using the full capabilities of my sound system). Health benefits for me are greatly reduced stress, lowered blood pressure, reduced cravings for sweets, increased energy, better sleep, less joint pain and less inflammation in my lower back.
THC products make me focus like a laser beam; as opposed to the paranoia addled weed which I have not had in decades
However, I'm a mature adult and know that I should limit my use to when I'm home and I don't drive. My wife doesn't use the products, so if we go out the agreement between us is, I can use up until we leave. She'll drive there, but I'm the designated driver on the return drive so that she can have a few drinks. By then, any effects of the THC are long disbursed and over for me.
The problem is that young adults and teenagers don't always have the mental discipline to do that. That's all Dan Patrick sees. He does not see or want to see that adults can be responsible, so he uses the irresponsible behavior of the few to blind him to the reality of the many.

The tide turned LONG ago dude. The ultra conservative idiots are the ones who realize it so long after it's happened

Dan Patrick doesnt care if you're a responsible adult and not hurting anyone else.
He's a religious Bible thumping Baptist that thinks his beliefs should govern all of society.

A great many of us are exactly like that but we can't win without the Religious Right. They annoy me to no end but then I look at the alternative and our uneasy alliance continues for another day.
That's what they say about being grouped with people who want to use the tax code for social engineering & vote buying.

No conservative I know wants this guy to run for governor.

Didn’t Dan Patrick make some sort of statement after it passed the legislature that this thc ban would be the most important issue he will face as a Texas politician?
What a fricking dweeb.

Someone needs to ask Paxton point blank where he stands on Patrick’s ban attempt.
Wasn’t Paxton backing this crap too?

the over 65 group had opioid pain medication with doctors supervision taken away 4 years ago. Gummies is a much better alternative. Patrick can go hump a stump

1. A greater percentage of people in the right will use THC only if it is available in a legal form. Many have jobs and careers and just can’t risk buying a bag of weed. This leads to a greater amount of caring.
2. More people on the right see the push to make THC illegal being funded by pharmaceutical companies worried about their profits and not done in the name of safety or societal benefit.

Tito’s is based in Austin and you know they are taking care of Patrick. Guy is such a slime
I vote right but Texas politics need to complete due over
Abbott, Patrick, Paxton. I’m tired of the same names.

We could've had Huffines for governor. I hope he runs against Patrick for the "GOP" nominee.

GA recently passed a version of this stupid law, you can no longer buy any weed worth consuming - delta 8, THCa, gummies etc.
The only thing allowed is CBD oil and synthetic THCp which is much worse than anything banned, over 30x stronger than real weed & will genuinely put you in the hospital.
It's a joke, weed is absurdly over-regulated while people can brew whatever crazy motor oil alcohol they want at home

I know Don. He's a good man, but I'm not sure outside of no property tax he's the right person for governor.

An outsider is exactly what Texas needs.
