No way he's convicted, right? Otherwise no officer will ever be able to fire their service weapon anywhere but the middle of the woods without facing similar charges, regardless of circumstances.

Eh, he was reckless as hell - pretty sure wasn't able to PID from the window.

This is extremely dangerous precedent if convicted, it'll open up the floodgates

IIRC this dude was just blindly firing through a window. I think they're fair charges.

No duh.

100% peaceful protests = no viewers.

93% peaceful = ratings.

Possibly assisted in the sale of drugs.

However, no drugs were found in the apartment.

Cops decided to break her door down at midnight without announcing themselves.

There is certainly police negligence and incompetence involved. It just isn't murder or manslaughter.

There are some pretty heavily armed chicks that they keep showing in the crowds. They all have rifles and a couple of them are wearing red berets.

Either charge for the "controversial" aspect or dont charge at all. Now they pussied around for middle ground and have pissed off a lot of people. This is basically charging the cop to say they did.

I somewhat agree, if the officer was just blindly firing shot after shot haphazardly into an apartment complex. That's the opposite of what we're trained to do.

My fear is that it's an awful slippery slope. If an officer has a legitimate sboot in a crowded area or with cars/homes around, wouldn't there be some sort of legal precedent for bringing these same charges if he fired even ONE round deemed unnecessary to stop the perp? And who would set the definition of "necessary" in that situation? What about "on target"? Who determines if a shot is taken correctly or incorrectly?

I just think this could open up all sorts of avenues and precedent that make an officer's job even harder than it already is.
