The difference is Louisiana’s corruption is 100% out in the open and readily accepted by the population. In California, they steal just as much, but they actually bother to try and hide it.

Living near any area of economic activity in LA is not cheap either.

Property taxes keep rising.
Insurance costs keep rising.
Sales tax keeps rising.
Tuition keeps rising (because public option in most cities is crap)

Property values are stagnant (can't build equity)

It has a "coast" but no beach.

LA is a paradox.

If it keeps the Texans out, then it's good policy.

I haven't looked at other states yet, but for Louisiana the largest single group of state employees is Higher Ed (to the tune of ~30k employees, followed by LDH with ~9,300, DPS/C with ~4,300 and DOTD with ~4,100).
Big and State Gov as a jobs program is raw dogging tax payers everywhere across the board. But I imagine the state of Louisiana is going in with no grease when it comes to per capita useless state employees.

I ran it thru Grok and this is accurate. Louisiana ranks #1 nationally in this category. That's not a category a state wants to be #1 in. Rank State Federal Share 1 Louisiana 50.7–51% 2 Alaska ~48.8–49% 3 Arizona ~46.4–46% 4–6 Kentucky Mississippi Montana ~44% — National average ~34–35%

Arizona surprises me. Awesome state with high quality, conservative baws. How can that be?

If you don’t believe this, just take a look at LA’s roofing program. The state is paying roofing companies to put new roofs on peoples’ houses. Not sure how these lucky people are chosen, guess it’s like a political lottery. It’s why you see so many nice trucks advertising for roofing services driving around. Straight up socialism.

100% true. This isn't racist, it's simply a fact. It's not all of them, but it's always some of them.
I just ran a job and had a "group " of em on my shift. Started ok, but ended in disaster. I brought 2 of them back to day shift and they were fine when separated from the others.
Incredible herd type behavior.

Sounds like we’re an anti-fig, anti-feminist, anti-marxist, anti-moslem, anti-mexican, anti-ghetto, socialist state funded by blue state (change all of those “anti’s” to “pro”) money. I’m good with that.

Yeah MS is the only other example I can think of. Bizarre combination.

This is the unfortunate reality. The federal dollars we get are largely spent on Medicaid, SNAP, and education. As a culture, they are content living and surviving on what the government will dole out. Their sole value has been reduced to a voting block for people who use them to get elected. No accountability.
I attended the Bureau of Governmental Research (BGR) annual luncheon on Monday in NOLA. Helena was there and guest speaker was mayor from Oklahoma City. Interesting how OKC has moved forward and used tax dollars to improve, attract businesses and people to their city. Their population growth is from job expansion. It seems our major city officials continue to focus on securing the voting block at any cost. Very disappointing.

Yes, Oklahoma city has a modest 13%. I guarantee they are grouped together in a bad neighborhood, but there is enough of everyone else to water their poor behavior down and not be such a drain on the city.

All true. BR Metro has steadily grown.
