Would be nice but it’ll never happen. Remember only the major population areas of California is extremely liberal. The rest of the state is very conservative

Can we outlaw all movies, TV shows and game shows made in California? Give them the strip near the coast. The US takes the rest.

Here's why I think CA secession can never happen.
San Diego is the West Coast home of the US Navy. Losing CA would mean that that would have to move. So who then would protect CA from a military invasion from a foreign hostile?
No one (unless the US stepped up). There aren't enough people in CA who would defend the state. Sure there may be some people in the Central Valley, but most of the state is, let's just say, ill-equipped to mount any kind of true resistance. CA would be in foreign hands within months, if not sooner. There is NO WAY the US would want a hostile country on their border. The rest of the US would never vote to allow CA to secede simply for national security reasons, much less the economic factors.

I don’t know why people want to let Cali leave. I say let them try, but when that happens and fails then put many of the same penalties on California that were imposed on the south post civil war. Military occupation, jailed politicians, restrictions from those who participated in voting or holding office. We can take the state back from where it is today and actually make it a livable place.
