Was once passionate about it but portal and NIL have taken the shine off of it. I will watch it if I'm in front of a tv but don't go out of my way to do so like I once did. Been saying for a long time NIL and portal will ruin college sports. And, it seems to be on a fast track in doing just that.

Did you just compare the players unions to labor unions? The only thing the two have in common is the word “union” lol

They both have Union contracts between the owners and players. Sorry you don’t realize this.

Amazon props up UPS.

I have zero sympathy for UPS workers thinking they are owed a job

Unions are a pyramid scheme where the lower level jobs are bargained away for the benefit of those higher up so they can get more money for doing less.

I think a similar thing is happening with the rail roads. A family member was complaining that UP(IIRC) was closing some yards and cutting some jobs.

I mentioned that maybe it had something to do with the new contract. He looked at me like I had two heads. And then said they are ready for a new contract. Must be nice.

I just went to nola.com to look at the news. This was the first headline I saw.

UPS closing another part of its New Orleans East facility, threatening more job losses

Sorry you don’t realize that the player’s union represents a group that exists solely for entertainment purposes and doesn’t have to concern itself with turning a profit.

Let's get rid of all those special anti-trust laws and then have have complete unfettered free agency with no salary cap. Maybe we can start up a new union that commences in little league footbal and terminates when you diel.

$170K+ a year, to drive a van around and deliver packages is insane.

Now do major league football and baseball.

USPS will probably double down dumb their deal with Amazon and pick up the slack and lose even more money that UPS.
I took a return to our local UPS store which I understand are independent ownership from UPS proper. I hope they don't shut them down. I've used them several times in just the last few weeks. Very convenient

Lot of misinformation in here. They don't make $170k except a select few feeders and that's including benefits. The buy out is $1800 per year of service or 10k minimum. It's not worth it unless you was already retiring within 6 months.

The whole reason they're offering is with most centers going automated that's a lot of part time employees laid off/ doing nothing. If they can get the senior guys out and new guys in they'll save a ton of money cause it takes the new guys 4 years to top out. They currently make $44 top out and I think the new guys start at $31.

The union is totally against it for one reason only. 20,000 x 2 hours of pay per individual per month = a lot of money

I would suggest reading the article, and not just the headline.

Better than that. The teamster contract pays OT after 8 hours in a day (used to at least) and over 40. The trick was to get into OT with as little straight time as possible.

Our hospital was over 40 or 8/80. If you worked 12 hour shifts, you were on 40. If you were on 8 hour shifts it was 8/80. Over 8 would kill you in overtime if you applied that to 12 shifts.

The players have a union contract. It’s not that hard people. Sure it’s different industries but they both have unions.
