So this is Palin's fault. Got it.

To the extent it is anyone's "fault"', it is the never-Palin GOP types that listed: 1.) Begich 2.) Peltola in the special election.

They're going to vote again, right?

Is there any data that shows Palin has a chance to win?

Presumably so.

Not that I have found. Any polling metric or analysis of the special election results indicates that Begich has a better chance of winning than Palin, if he can stay out of third place through the first selections. If Begich is in third and his votes are apportioned to Palin and Peltola, I would assume the result will be the same as the special election.

Why are they doing 2 rounds of ranked choice voting?

I thought the intent was to avoid costly primaries?

The first was a special election with the real one in Nov, I think.

They aren't. It is two separate elections.

The one that was just held was a Special Election to finish Don Young's term. The election in November is to fill the seat for the next Congress.

It means one singular Republican candidate nets you a win. The GOP has to basically pay one off to go away.

Truth is that this is what RANKED choice voting does....

It should be outlawed.

I'm here and hate this stupid rank choice voting Jjdoc.

Another issue we have is almost 600k registered voters and only about 200k even bothered voting.

The Democrat was always the winner with Palin in the race. Begich is really a Democrat. If he weren’t in the race, most of his votes would to the Democrat because Palin is unpopular. For the Republicans to win, they needed someone other than Palin. Palin can’t win elections in Alaska. The fact that she quit as Governor, doesn’t help her.

So I guess you are in the camp of people that believe that Begich's voters only preferred Peltola over Palin because it was a ranked choice election. If it was Peltola v. Palin head-to-head, Begich's primary voters would have instead voted for Palin. Am I getting that right?

Low turnout has more to do with the outcome than any other factor, by a lot.

There is no data to support the notion that ranked choice voting is why Palin lose the special election. It does not make any sense and requires one to assume that Begich's voters would have voted for Palin in the general election, whenever a majority of Begich's voters listed Peltola as their second choice.

It certainly seems at this point though that he has the better shot at winning a head to head then she does

It’s weird. When all three candidates are up against each other in presumably the same poll, there’s 29% for Palin, 29% for Begich and 42% for Peltola.

When it goes head to head, Peltola gains votes against both? Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Just talking to people around here in Wasilla the response is that Pallin is all about herself, so they voted Begich. Other side is the Begich Clan are the Bush Clan of Alaska, so they voted Pallin. Nobody knows anything about Petola so she kept her head down and pulled in the undecided vote and the ranked vote.

I like Palin, but someone needs to drop out. I don’t know anything about the other guy, but with Alaska retarded voting, running more than one Republican just hands the Dems the seat. The Dems would get one of theirs to drop out. You gotta play the game even if it’s f’d up.

Any Republican is better than a Democrat. Look what happen when we were counting on Manchin to prevent the Build Back Worse bill. How did that work out? Democrats will Always vote with the party, eventually. One more Republican in the Senate would be a big help, don’t fool yourself.

f, so they voted Begich.

I did. The ads Palin ran were embarrassing. She was totally different prior to being picked by McCain.

Begich discussed the issues and I thought he was smart and had well thought out responses.
