Serenity is just another word for calm.. all I was saying was reaching that kinda state during tragedy is eerie and hard to understand unless your thrust into that situation. I truly feel for that guy..

If it was a training flight then why didn't the IP notice anything

After a collision like that…water temps won’t matter.

Thee ATC radar showed the chopper...
But couldn't it also potentially help avoid a collision?

The plane was above the helo. Helo didn't see them. The radio tower asked then if they had visual. There was another plane taking off. Theory is they had eyes on that one and not the incoming plane.

watched a rescue 911 back in the day where a kid drowned and was submerged for an hour. The cold water slowed everything down so they were able to revive him with no brain damage. It's been about an hour now
would be a miracle.. but i’ll keep hoping

The ATC's screen showed CA. Apparently that is collision alert.

Which begs the question: why was the chopper even in that airspace with all the traffic. Makes no sense.

Don't see.where that played a role. ATC appears to have been aware of where it was and was trying to direct it.
It seems to have an aircraft to aircraft component to it also.

Maybe it wouldn't have helped but seems weird it would be off for no reason in that airspace.

They said a routine training flight. Guess we will learn more in about 15 min if the press conference starts on time

In the OT thread the ATC screen is shown.
You going to believe that or a random twitter account?

The last minute diversion to a shorter runway is puzzling to a few guests on Fox. They said the later a plane is asked, the harder it is to properly make the descent.

I know someone who knows all 3 soldiers on board. He just told me “this was a routine flight and they make flights like this almost every single day. It’s literally their job.”

Can’t even imagine. So tragic.
