Lindsey Graham cause of death revealed

Per a statement issued by Graham's office just before 5:00pm EST on Sunday, 'Aortic Dissection due to Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease,' was the cause of his 'sudden' passing.
'The death certificate will be PENDING until all the toxicological and microscopic testing are finalized, and at that point the death certificate will be updated to reflect the cause of death and appropriately classify the manner of death,' Graham's spokesperson added in the statement.

An aortic dissection is a life-threatening medical emergency where a tear occurs in the inner layer of the aorta, the body's main artery. Because an Aortic Dissection is highly time-sensitive, immediate emergency medical intervention (such as surgery or intensive blood pressure management) is required to prevent death. I wonder thoracic or abdominal. Seems like someone would have picked that up maybe as an incidental finding on regular physicals. Hell, they have the best insurance in the world. You would think he would have head to toe physicals annually. Quite painful way to go from what I've heard.

Unless you accidentally catch it early while getting other care, it usually checks you out pretty quick unless you happen to be real close to a good hospital with the resources to get on it fast.

Had a friend die from this about 13 years ago. Got sick and threw up the night before. Felt bad next day but he and his dad were taking a charter flight to Auburn aTm game in College Station and nothing was going to keep him from going. It hit him during the flight when about 45 min from landing. He was gone quick. Just fell over out of the seat onto the floor. Doctors told his dad he could have been inside a hospital when it happened and they wouldn’t have been able to save him.

That is so sad. Sorry for your loss. I am waiting for the PB docs to explain if this can still happen if one is on statins and BP meds?
