There is a correlation, but because Trump said it you will put your babies at risk.
These are people who regularly, and with glee in many cases, pay a local clinic to dismember their own flesh and blood and suck the remains out of the uterus with a vacuum cleaner.
They are not right in the head.

To be nice bc I'm in a fairly good mood, I will expound on this important distinction.
In my line of work, if someone with end stage knee arthritis asks me "can I take chondroitin sulfate/glucosamine for my knee pain?" My response is, "I don't recommend it bc there is no data showing its efficacy in your case, but its a pretty low risk and safe OTC medication so I don't have a problem with you trying it if you want" vs if they ask me if they should get a scope/clean out knee procedure, I firmly advise against it bc its clear from the literature the benefits do not outweigh the risks in this context.
Make sense?

If "that is exactly how scientific research works", then why try to shite all over and dismiss the information that is coming out? Why can't you let the scientific method play out, and while playing out, exercise caution?
I am all for that, and I have addressed this before in this thread as well. My problem was with the way things were rolled out in the press conference. They put the initial research (that led to initial conflicting research that was more rigorous and used controls that were scientifically more sound) on a pedestal while ignoring the research that was more rigorous and larger that showed no association. This could lead to unintended consequence of people believing there is a causal link between autism and acetaminophen, and taking even less safe medications or nothing at all when a fever becomes dangerously high in a pregnant mother or child
IMO and it’s an opinion only is that verbal message at the pressor should have been similar to the written letter.
By the way, the link you gave was simply a rehashing of the same research that was not able to be replicated when controlling for confounding variables and using sibling controls.
To be clear, research continue in this area.

Firstly, the FDA statement is very clear that there is no causative (aka "it creates") evidence out there. And at best, the correlation is supported by some studies and refuted by others.
I agree that "creates more issues than it solves" may be a bit hyperbolic. But then when we're talking about pregnant women taking it...
...even Tylenol has warned them not to do it. While correlation doesn't mean causation, apparently there's enough correlation for concern.

Pretty much every single medication and vitamin "says do not take if pregnant or breastfeeding" on the label, or "consult your physician before taking if pregnant or breastfeeding."
Posted on 9/25/25 at 10:20 am to Bard
see his post above on "do not recommend" =/= "advise against".

I don't recommend you kill yourself. I firmly advise against killing yourself. Take my advice or don't. Again, a distinction without a difference. Make Sense?

ask any of these people who are convinced their is correlation (yet alone causation) why they choose to believe the studies that show one thing and not the others that show the opposite
Why don't YOU tell us about the questions you wouldn't answer. Did the CDC lie to people? Yes or no, meathead
Posted on 9/25/25 at 11:14 am to 4cubbies
Almost there, you just about have it figured out

quote:genius, if there is a chance it causes problems, like, you know, TYLENOL SAID THERE IS, why would you not tell people to err on the side of caution?
the correlation is supported by some studies and refuted by others.
So yeah, saying there is a "mounting evidence it creates" anything is a major leap
It's because you have TDS which causes you to be very selective. As was proven repeatedly in the other megathread

overstating how "bad" something is when you have a major platform could have really detrimental effects at the population level
What they said is true halfwit
And about that "platform," do you now denounce the CDC and their platform for lying to people?
You said you think gender reassignment is mutilation. Do you denounce them and their massively gigantic platform that's brainwashing kids?
Hypocrite loser trash

ignoring actual scientific studies.
You are seriously worse than SFP.

And if there are other studies that "prove" no correlation, how will you decide which studies to believe
Freaking hypocrite

at the population level, phrasing is critical

Even if its not a high percentage, even low percentages matter at the population level.

Thank you, St. Donald Trump! Because of him, pregnant women will now finally start consulting their doctors before they take medication!
Some might even seek pre-natal care! All thanks to Saint Don
It’s truly a miracle a single healthy baby was ever born before this week
But don't mention the other people who were there with trump.

Let me let you in on a little secret about most doctors, they are book smart and can memorize medicine protocols but most couldn’t start an IV without having to restart several times and lack basic common sense. Quite frankly an experienced nurse is far more useful than most general practitioners or non surgeons.
