Yes. They absolutely 100% did expect that. They had been in wars and skirmishes with French, British, Dutch, Spanish, and Canadian governments since before they were a country.

My only hope is that we get some type of effort to safeguard elections. Somehow.

Then what? Nothing will happen.
No federal government agencies will look at any evidence. Scotus will pass on it. No one will march into DC and ask for an explanation. Even if some idiots did try to march into DC to peacefully protest, they'd probably be gunned down by woke soldiers. Biden administration and permanent government have spent 5 months militarizing the hell out of our nation's capital.
Our capital looks similar to how a banana republic looks after one regime, that no one wants, forcibly takes over, and has to be on guard in case the peasants revolt.
But yeah, nothing will happen, at any level. Impossible to fight against the strongest government in the history of the world. Can only hope the new leaders don't start slaughtering citizens who have been labeled as wrongthinkers.

You make a fair enough point. I stand by my statement that whatever the genesis of Jan. 6, the payoff was the fear in the eyes of the Dem Congressmen. They know what they've done, and they thought payment might be coming in pounds of their flesh.
Now, you and I know that the "mob" wasn't violent. They weren't stringing up Pence on the National Mall, but it's amazing how transparent guilt is on the faces of those responsible for a legitimate coup.

Remember the Trump rallies? I would expect to see a lot of these informing the people of the audit results since the communist media won't. Remember president Trump fake news message? It resonated. Now imagine president Trump pounding the illegitimate 2020 election with the audits results. President Trump will get the message out. He is extremely popular and people don't trust the msm anyway.
