In the past 72 hours, Donald Trump has dropped all pretense, torched a couple decades of American policy, and undermined 18 months of his own diplomacy. He lifted sanctions on the import of Russian diesel fuel, in violation of the letter and spirit of laws that he himself signed. He has threatened to stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine, unless Ukraine agrees not to target Russian refineries, thus demanding that Kyiv give up its most effective weapon while asking nothing from Russia in exchange. He has not criticized Russian attacks on Ukrainian power plants or factories, even those owned by American companies. He has offered no condolences for the recent deaths of Ukrainian children in Russian bombing raids.
quote:

He has lied repeatedly. He declared that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to an “energy cease-fire,” an announcement that surprised the Ukrainians and that in any case the Russians immediately broke, hitting a power plant in Kharkiv only hours later. He accused Ukraine of blocking negotiations, when in reality the Ukrainians have repeatedly proposed cease-fires and Russia has never agreed to a cease-fire or any meaningful negotiation at all.
quote:

"This looks, instead, like something very different: an abrupt, Hail Mary attempt to force Ukraine to surrender and to save the Russian economy, perhaps in order to finally complete the multiple business deals that the Russians are known to have discussed with American negotiators and others in Trump’s orbit."

A good thread from the viewpoint of the Russian mafia and their methods.

quote:

In the eyes of Putin and his siloviki, Trump is a baryga — a greedy, unscrupulous businessman who puts profit above law and principle.

Gangsters despise barygas, but they love using them. The goal is always to turn a baryga into a lokh — a mark, an outsider who doesn't understand the rules of the underworld and gets played to serve the gang's interests.

By signing the diesel deal, Putin plays two scenarios at once:

A) The deal miraculously helps his lokh keep power — great.
B) The deal changes nothing, the baryga loses the midterms — but by then it has already done its job: inflamed US political tensions and acted as arson inside the American system.

Putin knows that the majority of Americans support Ukraine. He knows that by signing, Trump draws unprecedented criticism, including from his own party. And he knows a baryga won't give up power easily, because he will have to answer for everything he did in office — this deal included.

That's classic gangster/secret-service method: tie a man to your organization, make him a partner in your crimes, so he can't walk away.

Pouring more oil — diesel, in this case — onto the most explosive fault lines of American politics, raising the stakes for Trump and pushing him past the point of no return serves Putin far better than a peace deal that could be voided within months.

Remember: Putin's goal in the West is chaos, not peace.

US may be withholding Intel on ballistic missile launches, giving people less time to seek shelter.

Zelenskyy: No warning from partners about Russian ballistic strike on Kyiv

Iryna Kutielieva — 13 October, 13:28

Commenting on Russia's recent attacks on Ukrainian cities, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine received no warning from its partners about the ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the evening of 12 October.

Source: Zelenskyy on X (Twitter), as reported by European Pravda

Details: Zelenskyy noted that starting that evening and continuing into 13 October, Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 100 different weapons, including jet-powered drones, loitering munitions and ballistic missiles. A significant proportion were shot down, but not all of them.

"There was also a particularly vile ballistic missile strike on Kyiv – five missiles that hit civilian infrastructure. Unfortunately, we received no early warning from our partners about this strike," Zelenskyy said.

He stressed that intelligence about Russian ballistic missile launches helps save lives and is one of the most critical issues.

"This is precisely what helps prevent people from being killed – when there is an early warning about ballistic missiles," the president added.

Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine has not struck Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general for two days since US President Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire.

"During this time, the Russians have attacked both our energy facilities and our critical infrastructure, sending absolutely clear signals that they have no intention of refraining from strikes on Ukraine. [...] Our position remains unchanged: Ukraine is ready for reciprocal steps toward de-escalation, and effective pressure on Russia is needed to make de-escalation happen. Wars end when the aggressor realises that it cannot prolong the war," Zelenskyy stressed.

He added that international pressure on Russia contributes to bringing peace closer.

"But direct or indirect support for Russia, slowing down assistance to Ukraine, and making it harder to protect lives against ballistic missiles will certainly not help bring peace. Everyone needs peace. A strong America, a strong Europe, and strong partners are needed," Zelenskyy concluded.

In this 2nd term, he's bounced all over the place regarding Ukraine.

I am trying to figure out what Trump's actual foreign policy regarding Ukraine is.

He brags about his relationship with all these dictators, while he does everything he can to belittle the leaders of many of our allies and nations like Ukraine.

Some of these things he says make sense, but some of these things make no sense whatsoever.

He doesn't have a coherent foreign policy stance at all. His first term had some success because people were afraid of his wild card factor, but that's totally gone.

I can’t see any reason to help Putin.
It’s looking more and more like Putin has something on Trump or Trump has some sort of deal with Russia whereby he benefits by helping them.

He's bouncing around all over the place...its like he just says whatever happens to be on his brain in that moment, doesn't matter what he said or did a month ago...

I don't think any other world leader takes him seriously anymore; he's so schizophrenic in his execution of foreign policy.

Oh, for Christ's sake....

Trump's policy towards Ukraine is - or was - as simple as can be: Back Putin.

Every actual decision that was made for more than a year of his second term, up to and including humiliating Zelinsky at the White House, was based around trying to hand Putin Ukraine. This is why he's dragged his feet on sanctions, this is why he's giving the Russians intel, this is why they've cut aid to the Ukrainians, humiliated Z, fought with NATO, stopped giving the Ukrainians information when they invaded Russia at Kursk, and there's plenty more to go on. The plan was to do all that and the Russians were going to easily gobble up the Ukraine, and that would be that and then we move on, most likely with the US abandoning NATO, Europe and then the Russians would attack Europe, believing they could conquer them. It's really just that simple. Hell, people still believe the Russians can defeat Europe, even a united one. News flash - they can't.

The problems Putin and Trump are having are:

A) nobody told the Ukrainians they were supposed to just roll over and be slaughtered, and if they did the Ukrainians threw up the middle finger and started learning how to fight
B) The West, with the exception of one major person, has collectively backed the Ukrainians, up to and including the American public, and
C) THE RUSSIANS CAN'T FIGHT.

So, Trump has had to learn the hard way that he's backed the loser and as a result his poll numbers are going down, so he's had to taper off on helping the Russians, or at least act like he's trying help the Ukrainians, which is complete BS and anybody with sense knows it.

There has been no actual 'zig-zagging,' he's just thrown a couple of meaningless crumbs towards the Ukrainians so he can lie to people about helping them, while giving gift, after gift, after GIFT to the Russians and lying about those, too. He continues to lie to the American public about the Ukraine war and his relationship with the Russians, and people, including some on this board, just eat it up.

Until you all see Trump for the Russian Stooge that he is, nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is going to make sense.

Trump claims US has not stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine

Ulyana Krychkovska-Bogdanova, Tetyana Oliynyk — 13 October, 19:13

President Donald Trump has denied that the United States has stopped providing intelligence to Ukraine.

Source: Trump speaking to journalists on 13 October, as reported by European Pravda

Details: A journalist asked Trump whether the US has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine.

"No we haven't. We helped them. But we're really helping them get to a final answer. We want the war ended," the US president replied.

Bingo.

Take a look at the way Trump has taken over the Republican Party, up to and including the way he's dismantled the policy and recruitment arms of the party., or the way he's purged the party of anyone who disagrees with him, or his attempting to take over the election process within states who challenge him. This isn't the doings of an idealistic businessman who is trying to make changes to the system, it's the MO of a Russian trying to take absolute power.

Trump has a long history of working with the Russians, and my guess is he has their help in taking power. In fact, it's not just my theory, others have called the Russians help in his winning the 2024 election the best case of Disinformation in Human History.

So my guess is that their working deal is that Putin helps Trump take power in America, Trump helps him in Ukraine, and I wouldn't be surprised if other states like North Korea and China are involved, which is why you see our president throw his own intelligence orgs under the bus and states in the open that he trusts Russia and China more.

But that would explain the bots for Trump, Trumps actions on Ukriane, any number of Foreign Policy and even domestic issues such as staff picks like Tulsi Gabbard, and their relationship that includes the Russians paying for a Trump wedding.

I never thought I'd see an American president selll out his own country to a Russian KGB agent, but here we are.

It depends on who flattered him more recently, Zelensky or Putin. He changes his tune every time he meets one of them. I don’t think it’s as simple as he supports Russia, I don’t think that. That’s not true and we have given Ukraine a ton of support under Trump . But I do think he has trouble playing super hard ball with Putin.

He also is panicking now due to mid terms and gas prices.

Yes, and the Ukrainians have confirmed they are still getting the US-based intelligence as well.

But this issue has remained curious for some time now. Why would Putin allow Trump to continue feeding this intelligence to Kyiv? He would want it cut off just as Trump has cut off all other support.

But in spite of periodic threats from the Colby - Hegseth peanut gallery, it hasn't been cut off. Not even close, in spite of causing great harm to the Russian war effort.

Why?

There's only one thing that could explain this anomaly. Could it be that the US intelligence command has the same copy of the Epstein files as does Putin? We know the CIA has strong contacts within the Russian security groups and with that crowd a bit of money goes a long way.

This would explain why they have not cut off the feed in spite of Putin's desires. If they have the same dirt, once these files are exposed Putin's control over Trump comes to a full stop. And Putin knows this.

So Trump does what Langley wants, not vice versa. And Putin is helpless to change that.

Trump has been spot on in many areas, but his positions on Russia and Ukraine stink. Meanwhile, Russia is helping the Islamic Republic.

Lack of Intel on ballistic missile launches has not been reported as an issue prior to this week. Exception being a week in March 2025 after the Oval office meeting.

A rescue operation is underway – the strike damaged a residential building, and the fire engulfed apartments on the first through eighth floors. All emergency services are on the scene, and residents are being evacuated. So far, one person has been reported killed and six injured. My condolences to their families and loved ones.

There was also a strike on the grounds of an energy facility – one of Kyiv’s main power plants. We are counting on our partners’ support.
