Yandex Disk is now eating user data.
After the strikes on their data centers, users across Russia report mass failures in cloud storage. Files are inaccessible. Some are gone entirely.
The company added drone attacks to its force majeure list on October 9. Now the data loss starts. And Yandex still won't say what happened to the data.

The needed learning for Europe and America is how do we make it so that a couple drones can't take our electronic system offline too.

Whoever figures that out will be worth a lot of money.
Key systems are increasingly becoming cloud based. It only takes one going down to slow or even halt operations at hundreds of companies if not thousands. Because communication between systems is an irreplaceable component now there really isn't a good way to completely secure ourselves.
The best security we have ironically is mutually assured financial destruction.

Maybe Russia is so fricked up and untrustworthy because they female-coded their national identity

This is why a lot of data centers are needed. It is also why I don't use cloud storage for business.

Probably good practice if you don't need an extensive server setup. A lot of vendors are forcing cloud migrations though

No, Russian propaganda bots not stopped.

My quotes are individual engineered items. Not a point and click thing for me. Also, why the under 50 engineers are clueless at saving money and getting into production sooner. They are point and click without ability to improvise

Yep Putin needs to do that. Pull his joke of an army back to their country.

quote:You're missing the point. It's the huge worldwide drops in traffic from the Russian-based bot farms, political subs, search crawlers and AI models, etc. that shows what has long been suspected: the source is now confirmed in real analysis as well as easy observation.
No, Russian propaganda bots not stopped.
Sub-editors at Reddit have also analysed the traffic data and it clearly confirms where all of these disinformation sites and support always came from. Russia, Russia, Russia.
More negative r means a stronger association with lower activity after the assumed attack time. The % shows the estimated size of the change in posts and comments, adjusted for normal weekday/hour patterns. -

The data is in hourly chunks, in UTC, from Syften’s public subreddit stats pages, which update daily. It counts posts and comments combined.
This pass covered 1,221 subreddits: a broad selection of popular subs plus extra US/European political and regional communities. 968 met the activity and data requirements for the comparison. So fairly broad coverage, but definitely not all of Reddit.
The Reddit analysis thread.
Here's the link to all 968 subs that met the requirements for the comparison.

Which proves that Reddit can identify them, could remove them, but choose not to. Just like Twitter/ X

Turns out half the internet drama vanishes when russian bots lose their servers. Irish politics sub dropped 80%. Guess the Kremlin was real passionate about Dublin.

Here's a new indicator of the impact of the destruction of Yandex servers on Russian bots: the latest false narrative from the Russian operating mode Storm1516 targeting the French presidential campaign, published on Friday, October 9, apparently garnered only a few tens of thousands of impressions. The previous one, published on September 24, had garnered millions in the same time frame. Without their bots, the Kremlin's disinformers cut a sorry figure!

A tale of 2 tweets from the White House account.
Trump's "energy ceasefire" tweet has almost a million more views than his 5 October tweet blaming Ukraine for the diesel shortages.
Despite the significantly higher view numbers, today's tweet got 21% fewer likes, 37% fewer retweets, and a similar number of comments.
quote:Ya think? Where do you think all these extra 'likes' came from?
The vast majority of the WH tweets don’t get 10k likes; I think they boost these.
