So do you want to just attack the poster or respond to the source?

Will anyone plant their flag on Hudson War Mapping being a solid and reliable source? Genuinely asking. They have 3k followers and I've literally never heard of them.

I’ve never heard of Hudson mapping either but I have seen some stuff to the effect that the Ukrops are making a big push in the Lyman direction and that whole salient to the northeast of sloviansk. Seems there is probably something to it. It has been very secretive what’s going on there. Very interesting to see what is there when the fog of war clears. May explain why Russia seems to be gaining ground in other sections of the front also.

Whatever Ukraine is doing is purely for media purposes. See Kursk

Probably. I view it as sort of a desperation, German army in the battle of the bulge type of maneuver. But, maybe it will work. We will see.

Ukraine has cut off and encircled a few of those Russian "breakthrough" probes.

The area where this is going on is in and to the north/northwest of Lyman. Russia continues to advance in the south/southeast portion of the salient. I believe that Ukraine is attempting a large maneuver in the Lyman direction to slow the Russian advance in the southern part of the salient to take pressure off of sloviansk and Kramatorsk.

Why do you insist on your map fetish? It's pointless to show maps at the small city and surrounding area scale. The front lines are nothing like lines. They are lightly controlled areas with soldiers hiding for their lives from drones. The Russians kill off some of their soldiers for flag planting operations to make the map obsessed like yourself happy. It signifies nothing. If you want to actually understand this conflict then the maps are currently the last place that is of any worth. It's been that way for a long while. Could that change, yeah, but I'll be surprised if it is any time this year.

Winter is coming. Drones work better in the winter because of the lack of tree cover. Winter advantage - defense. As always.

In the Western romance languages we use the word Area to describe a piece of geography.

Native speakers of cyrillic languages use the word Direction to describe a piece of geography.

You also created your account the week of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in Feb of 2022.

Just saying.

Doesn't this map contradict what you posted 5 days ago?

https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/display.aspx?sp=124350163&s=2&p=119249783#124350163

In December of 2025, you posted other micro-scale maps of this same area, and it doesn't look like Russia has moved much at all. SIX MONTHS and they have barely moved forward.

I agree with the poster who said these micro-scale maps are worthless to understanding the war.

I'm an American. I live in Illinois. Never been outside the country. And I created my account in February 2020, not 2022. But by all means, continue to believe I am Russian.

Did you link the wrong post? That is a totally different section of the front.

This one has actually moved a lot. Look at Rai Oleksandrivka for reference.

Edit - here is the map of this direction from January for reference.

Couldn't disagree more. Maps are the only way to understand this conflict. I think maybe you don't like them because of the reality they convey.

1. No map in this area is correct.

2. Both the Russian and Ukrainian maps of Kostyantynivka are very misleading and exaggerated - the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

From the link you posted right above from AMK Mapping.

Btw, the guy provided a very good analysis in that link.

Oh I get what you're saying. Well yeah it does contradict the Rybar map. That is the whole point of it. What's wrong with that? Did I ever say I believed the Rybar map represented the unassailable truth? No of course not nor have I ever. I'd probably believe AMK over Rybar. You can believe whatever you want. We're all just guys sitting at a computer. I am sharing information I find that I think is interesting. I don't have any special insight into any of this shite.

Well this explains some things

By all means keep using cyrillic phrases in your war descriptions.

Like no one on this board had ever used the phrase "Lyman direction" until it started popping up on Russian war blogs. Now you've adopted it why?
