Western Siberia 2200km from Ukraine.

The Russian Gold Coast is turning into the Scrapyard Coast. Maybe these ship owners are getting full payment up front. Or maybe they really are that stupid.

Map front lines are inherently wrong this year due the nature of drone warfare. A small unit rushing in and taking a building a few clicks away, only to be stranded is not really taking ground. We know that Russia plays this geotagging game. I don't doubt that Ukraine does this too.
It's like anything, you have to strike a balance.
The trends shown by various maps are more important than any individual map itself. Are they all showing the same thing? Is one side in an area they've never been in before? Is one side consolidating an area that is strategically important?
Yes we have seen Russia sacrifice guys to throw up a flag in places they didn't actually control (and Ukriane has done it a time or two themselves) but we've also seen these maps actually be too conservative with Russian gains for political/propaganda reasons. They are more unreliable because of that reason than they are because occasionally some infiltration unit occasionally sneaks into a place their army doesn't actually control.

Please provide an example of me not being objective about something.
I doubt you'll be able to since you can't copy and paste it from ISW.

Just hit the search function on this board and pull up all your posts on this board. I suspect your posts are negative towards Ukraine, or Ukrainian backers 90% of the time.

ISW is one of the best sources for analysis of the war. It’s not my fault you discount most of the Western outlets. If you don’t like ISW don’t read it.

So just to be clear you can't provide any evidence?

In the past day or two I've explicitly said Western sources are the only somewhat reliable ones for the most part but don't let the truth stop you from your delusions

Agreeing that anything Russia has done in their 4 years of failure is stunning.

Wouldn't the opposite be lack of objectivity? Lmao
"If you don't think every single thing Russia has done in the past 4 years is bad, you're not being objective"
Cult-like behavior.

4 years into this and they still haven't knocked Ukraine out the fight. Even if Russia ultimately succeeds, it won't be stunning. Just costly. Yes, costly for both sides, but Ukraine is the one punching above their weight given the disparity in numbers. Russia has not been impressive not matter what gains they make.

I mostly agree and have repeatedly said roughly this for years at this point.
You're focusing a lot on an individual map being surprising and trying to extrapolate some odd narrative from that for some reason.

"Wow, multiple maps are showing Russian control of a place it's not been able to get to in the entire war yet."
You: "yeah uh well Ukraine has been advancing in the south!"
If someone asked you to put an example of whataboutism in the dictionary you couldn't find a better one.
I truly thought your reading comprehension was better than this. Nate was talking about a localized Russian infiltration in the south of Ukraine. He claimed it would be "stunning."
My response was that such a localized infiltration would not be stunning, because Ukraine is advancing overall in that sector of the front, and localized infiltrations often happen, and—while they sometimes succeed—they are often quickly wiped out, ESPECIALLY in the general area of the front where Ukraine is currently advancing.
That's not whataboutism. I was specifically rebutting and refuting Nate's argument that the infiltration would be "stunning."
Whataboutism would be if I said that Nate's argument didn't matter because of something else. That's not what happened.

If tweet fails to load, click here. In comments I gave to the Associated Press a few days ago, I was discussing the progress of the Crimean operation and its current challenges. The 14% figure was mentioned as well, and it is accurate.
There is, however, an important nuance, which I mentioned only yesterday.
It concerns the enemy's simultaneous missile salvo capability. At present, it exceeds 70 (77) missiles of DIFFERENT types, launched from DIFFERENT launchers, ships, and aircraft.
The enemy is working to increase the size of its simultaneous salvo to 200 missiles, but this does not refer exclusively to ballistic missiles, as was interpreted and then amplified in headlines by leading Ukrainian media outlets, instantly reaching millions of readers.
*The audio recording is available. An unfortunate mistake occurred during the translation into English from the original Ukrainian voice recording.
Please correct the headlines, as the misinformation is already spreading.
UPD: The original source has now been corrected. Thank you for your understanding.

Infiltration events are not the same as control. Overall, Ukraine is advancing in the South, as even your Rybar map shows
Your original comment imo does not imply what you expanded on in your follow up, but I will go off of your clarification and in that case mostly agree.
I would say to wave it off as "infiltrations happen when one side advances" could be a mistake since we are talking about an infiltration into a city that hasn't been infiltrated before, which could be impressive if it turns into anything more given the context in the area (Ukraine generally advancing slowly)

All right then. What's your opinion then on Russia's reconnaissance operation towards Orikhiv? Stunning or not stunning?
