Given the revelations around Russian exaggerations amplified by Rybar, what are your thoughts on the validity of his maps?
I think there are a lot of virulently russophobic lunatics on the internet who hate Rybar for no other reason than that it is Russian. Rybar’s maps are very close to ISW 9 times out of 10 so I don’t really know what the gripe is with them but whatever it is, it’s probably bullshite.

Without Telegram it can only use what corrupt officials tell them.

Another Johnny Come Lately? During the Kharkiv Offensive, Rybar was most accurate of all. Actually more accurate than Putin wanted. It was after the Kherson Offensive that Rybar became not as reliable.
FTR, it wasn't so much an offensive that has been stopped. Ukraine special forces made a number of raids in the rear behind Russian lines which some took to be an offensive.

ISW calls it localized and opportunistic counterattacks.

Key Takeaways
Russia is blocking WhatsApp and other Western social media platforms, media outlets, and means of bypassing internet restrictions as part of an intensification of the Kremlin’s campaign to reassert control over the Russian information space and prevent access to the global internet.
Ukrainian forces are conducting localized and opportunistic counterattacks near the Dnipropetrovsk-Zaporizhia Oblast administrative border, likely to take advantage of recent blocks on Starlink terminals and Telegram.
Ukrainian forces conducted a series of missile and drone strikes against Russian military, defense industrial, and oil infrastructure on the night of February 11 to 12, including with Ukrainian-produced FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles.
Available independent reporting continues to indicate that 2025 was the deadliest year for Ukrainian citizens since Russia’s 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The United Kingdom (UK) and the Netherlands announced new military aid, particularly to support Ukrainian air defense.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced near Borova and Hulyaipole. Russian forces recently advanced in northern Kharkiv Oblast and near Slovyansk.

NATO's not ready for drone war, Estonia drills reveal brutal reality - WSJ

Last year, Estonia hosted large-scale Hedgehog-2025 drills involving more than 16,000 troops from 12 NATO member states. Ukrainian drone warfare specialists, including frontline soldiers, also took part.
quote:
During the maneuvers, Ukrainian forces used the “Delta” battlefield management system. The platform collects real-time intelligence, analyzes it using artificial intelligence, identifies targets, and coordinates strikes.
This enables a rapid “kill chain”: detect, transmit information, and strike within minutes.
A single Ukrainian team of about 10 people acting as the simulated enemy managed in half a day to imitate the destruction of 17 armored vehicles and conduct 30 additional strikes on other targets.
According to Aivar Hanniotti, who led the opposing unit of about 100 personnel, more than 30 drones operated in an area of less than 10 square kilometers. That is only half the drone density currently seen on Ukraine’s front line.
“There was no possibility to hide. We quite easily found cars and mechanized units, and we were able to take them out quite fast with strike drones,” Hanniotti said.
Overall, the simulated enemy was able to effectively “eliminate” two battalions in a single day, rendering them combat ineffective.
quote:
At the same time, according to Maria Lemberg of Aerorozvidka, many NATO members still show “a fundamental lack of understanding of the modern battlefield” and continue training troops using outdated manuals.
One commander, observing the simulation results, summed it up bluntly: “We are f*****.”

In the 60's a man claimed that he was building the most powerful tugboat in the world for its size at his "shipyard" a mile east of the Texas border in Louisiana. It was in the weekly Vinton newspaper. It sank immediately after launch.

Putin Lost Twice the Number of Troops In January as the Soviets Lost In 10 Years Fighting In Afghanistan
Russian forces were unable to achieve any significant gains on the ground in January even as they took these very heavy losses, the officials said.
About 35,000 Russians were KIA in December, roughly equal to Moscow’s monthly recruitment, Bloomberg previously reported.
But in January Russian losses exceeded recruitment.
Bloomberg’s reporting put Russian losses for January just around 44,000 dead on the battlefield, a number Sciutto made even more eye-popping with added context.
The Soviet Union lost some 14,500 to 23,000 troops between 1979 and 1989 fighting in Afghanistan, although estimates vary.

And there are a lot of folks who underestimate the efforts Russia makes to undermine our best interests in the world.
