So, we're in the midst of tri-lateral peace talks. If anybody wants to know why they aren't going to amount to anything, here's a good take on the whole sordid mess:
"I have no doubts that in real negotiations, a criminal attack on civilians would be grounds to refuse to continue them and to pursue other diplomatic demarches.
But the problem is that what we are witnessing today is not real negotiations. It is an attempt by Ukraine and its European allies to prevent the Trump administration from accusing Kyiv of being unwilling to achieve peace, walking away from the process, and even cutting off assistance to Ukraine.
So in reality, we are negotiating with the Americans. The Russians are there as mere furniture, and they have the same task we do: to convince Trump of their “peace-loving” intentions simply by being present.
And the fact that Washington prefers not to notice Russia’s attacks on Ukraine during these talks is something the American participants will have to answer for"

A strike on January 4 hit the Energia plant in the city of Yelets, with a direct impact confirmed on a production workshop. The facility is a developer and manufacturer of autonomous power sources used in aviation, river and maritime fleets, radio equipment, and emergency communications. It also produces power components for Russian guided aerial bomb modules and missiles.

Today, the tanker URSUS MARITIMUS (IMO 9297345) sailed past Istanbul.
The vessel had previously been attacked near Taman, one of the key hubs of Russian oil export infrastructure, during the night of December 21–22, 2025.
The tanker is sailing empty, as oil loading was never carried out.
Cargo pump room (0:07) and starboard manifold rack (0:24) hit.

Indian crews always have the best chow. If I were with the Gendarmes, I'd be inspecting that galley every day.

Unless a new ship, owned by US or European not called Greece, they are filthy. At least that's the way it was in the 1980's. Mobil's lightering tankers had officers all in their starched dress whites as sharp as a military parade. Crew on deck weren't wearing rags, but clean work clothes. Food was good. Every other Indian crewed ship reeked to high heaven, officers all smelled sweaty, crew dressed in dirty rags. The only crews as bad were Turkish. Greeks a notch above that.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the hit on the infrastructure of the Slavyansk Eco oil refinery in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff reported this on Facebook.
On the night of January 26, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the infrastructure of the Slavyansk Eco oil refinery (Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar region).
The enterprise's annual processing capacity exceeds 4 million tons of oil. This plant is part of the Russian Federation's energy rear and is involved in supplying the aggressor's armed forces.
UCAV strikes on the plant's territory, and explosions in the target area were documented.
According to preliminary reports, the primary oil-refining facilities were hit. The extent of the damage is being assessed.

Weird
And we have some that say you can’t trust ISW using their materials to illustrate a point they are trying to make.
Right now it appears now that winter has set in ground action had really slowed down.

The UK government actually enforcing the financial laws against money laundering? I didn't know the UK fiscus has gotten so bad off. This will stir up a hornet's nest in the City. At least they waited until Monday and didn't spoil anyone's weekend in the country.

Britain’s Office for Financial Sanctions Enforcement has fined Bank of Scotland £160,000 for violating the UK sanctions regime against Russia. According to the regulator, in February 2023 the bank processed 24 payments worth about £77,000 to a personal account held by an individual under UK sanctions. The penalty was announced on Monday. The case comes as London continues to expand restrictive measures against Russia, including new designations linked to the energy sector.

More from the Master Strategist -

Russian military forces have withdrawn tanks and military vehicles from Qamishlo Airport in northeastern Syria, according to Kurdistan24. The relocation moved personnel, heavy armor, and equipment to Russian bases in Latakia on the Mediterranean coast. The withdrawal began several days ago. Russia has used Qamishlo Airport since 2019 as a key hub in the region.

Glad to see the Tomahawks back on the table. Hegseth and Colby are clearly anti-Ukrainian and have proved this more than a couple of times in the last year. That's why Rice is talking to them directly. And don't think he didn't get permission from the White House first to do this.
As the primary target of any Tomahawks in Ukrainian hands would be the drone manufacturing facility at Yelabuga (1300km minimum), and this facility is practically owned and run by the Chinese now, any hesitation on DoD's part would be due to the expected blowback. But what are the Chinese going to do about it? Colby sees Chinese boogie men under his bed.

Ukraine is conducting a discreet campaign to obtain US Tomahawk cruise missiles, Kyiv Post reports. The effort is led by Dan Rice, president of the American University Kyiv and a former special adviser to Ukraine’s armed forces commander. This week, Rice met at the Pentagon with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, urging delivery of a limited number of Tomahawks using a mobile ground launch system. Rice said there is a high likelihood Donald Trump would approve the transfer if Russia rejects peace. Kyiv Post reports internal divisions in the Trump administration, with some officials warning the move could harm diplomacy, while others see Tomahawks as leverage in talks
