By late 2026, Europe will produce ~2 million 155mm shells annually—a massive scale-up driven by Ukraine’s needs and NATO defense goals.
Germany (Rheinmetall): 1.5M/year (more than the entire U.S. defense industry in 2023)
France (Nexter): 200K–300K
Czechia (STV Group): 100K–200K
Spain (Santa Bárbara): 50K–100K
Italy (Leonardo): 50K–100K
Norway (Nammo): 20K–50K (focused on high-precision rounds)
EU/NATO goal: 2.5–3M shells/year by 2027. For now, Europe alone is on track for ~2M by end-2026
