Well, Trump somewhat recently indicated that he thought it might be possible, but he may have simply been trolling Putin with that comment.
Yeah its either that or just the "negotiating via public statement" tactic that politicians at almost all levels domestically and internationally employ.

Trump explains why he wants to meet with Putin in Budapest
Oleh Pavliuk, Alona Mazurenko — 17 October, 20:48
US President Donald Trump has explained his choice of venue for a meeting with Russian ruler Vladimir Putin: he likes Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Source: Trump during a press briefing at the White House during his meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Trump said he decided to propose the Hungarian capital as the meeting venue "because it's a leader that we like".
Quote: "We like Viktor Orbán. He [Putin] likes him, I like him. [Hungary is] a country that's a safe country… He's been a very good leader in the sense of running his country. He doesn't have a lot of the problems that other countries have."
Details: The US president said he is confident that Orbán "will be a very good host".

My only issue with these maps is that there needs to be some kind of distinction between recent Ukranian counteroffensives that took ground, and the one in the early stages of the war before the lines more or less stabilized. I don't think the big blue blob on this one really tells you anything about the current state of the war.
You’re right. ISW is a pro-Ukraine outfit so they try to maximize the blue on the map even though to your point most of the blue is a couple years old at this point and irrelevant to the current situation. The fact of the matter is that even based on ISW maps, through, Russia is advancing across the entire Donetsk front and into eastern Dnepropetrovsk. Siversk for example has been a Ukrainian strongpoint since the earliest days of the war and it appears to be in serious danger of falling at this time. The fact that Russia is now seriously threatening Kostyantynivka (pre-war population 67K+) is significant.

For the record, how long have Siversk and Kostysntnivka been attacked?
How long have they been in serious danger?
Now look at Bakmuth. It was attacked. It fell two years ago. It was stated to be a key part of the Ukrainian line and a breakout was imminent. That breakout never happened.
How far West of Bakmuth is the battle line?

I do it for the love of the game at this point.
Still no counter-argument. You aren't here for discussion, you just want anyone who hurts your feelings to be quiet

I will be interested to see the gains made this month compared to previous months and compared to the same time last year. It seems like the Russian rate of advance is increasing. At the very least like you said, they are closing in on some fairly significant areas.

De-Russifying has been going on for a while in the Baltics.

How is AU a Putin apologist? And how is that relevant to me?
He posts YouTube videos from Putin supporting YouTube channels. Diesen alone has worked for a Russian think tank until he started his YouTube, from Moscow. Napolitano is obvious to anyone with half a brain.

It costs about that much to get it out of the ground and to port. News media cites gross sales but never seems to cite net margin.

You tell lies about technology and tell boring stupid stories about deceased friends. I call you out for it and it really pisses you off.
Have you not posted material from Ukrainian supporting sources?
Sorry I get under your skin.
Nah. Not really.
I guess that I upset your safespace echo chamber again.

AU is a Russian apologist and a stalker. I hurt his feelings one day and he went into every thread I posted in to call me an Ukraine bro, even when it had nothing to do with the war.
Weird people.

Genuinely asking, how?
I've had now three separate posters now tell me this and not one quote of anything resembling being a Russian apologist. You seem fairly sane so I'm sure you have a reason beyond "he doesn't want to send unlimited money to Ukraine for forever, so he's a Russian apologist" like some others.
