Donbas is probably closer to something like The Troubles in Ireland than the US Civil War, and that isn't even a good comparison either.

That's probably close, though...

and the Basque Conflict in Spain... the Hungarian Conflict in Romania at the moment... Any battle over language and identity by a minority group in a country.

The Troubles in Northern Ireland petered out when EU membership paid off and the economy boomed so much that Catholics weren't shut out of the economy. People with skin in the game don't want to blow up the game.

But yeah, this is a bit different...

My ex-Marine buddy who fought for Ukraine in Bakhmut for a year says the way Ukrainians speak of Russians is the way his wife's Taiwanese older relatives speak of both Japan and Communist Chinese... when a country murdered your loved ones it's hard to let that go.

n 2014
In February, 2014 Russia's military, the "little green men," began invading the Donbas and Crimea in Ukraine.

Of course, Ukraine responded militarily to being invaded in 2014.

So you just ignored the part of Lee B's quesntion who asked you "Can you post a link showing the bombing and killing of Russians in the Donbas BEFORE Russia armed separatists to bomb and kill Ukrainians."

Dumb.

This video has been posted multiple times in the previous War thread. CNN reported on it

CNN replayed that report by... Sky TV? The BBC?

That still happened after Russian paramilitaries invaded the area... it was a response, not an unprovoked action. It sucks that civilians are caught up in it... but Russians can hardly complain about that given their record in history.

What about the artilery tubes, themselves

There is a channel on YT that follows this. He looks at satellite photos of storage facilities for old towed guns that have good tubes. Last I checked they were down to something less than 30% of pre invasion levels.

Their parallel problem is that the metal for these tubes comes from former East Germany. So they all date back to 60s, 70s, and 80s production. They can make passable tubes themselves. But not the metallurgical quality of the German tubes. So instead of lasting for 5000 rounds their new domestic production tubes might last 1500 rounds.

Remember they burned through 10 million rounds in the first 6 months of the war. 25 million rounds in the first three years. Now they're firing like 3 million rounds per year. They can keep that level up for a while.

The problem is that basically they can never do again what they did in 22, 23, and 24. The stockpile of 20 million rounds and 10,000 spare tubes is gone. Which is a good thing for everyone in Europe.

Everyone knows the next war will be a drone war. But at least it's also good knowing the Russian ability to fire 50,000 plus rounds per day in a creeping barrage like in WW1 is no longer a possibility.

Incorrect. Russia Military took over Crimea after the Deepstate Neocon backed 2014 Maidan Coup. They never entered the Donbas.

Incorrect. Poroshenko admitted they were going to bomb the Donbas since they did not want to be a part of Ukraine

Don't bring that revisionist history shite to this thread, Ivan.

quote:

The "little green men" (Russian: ??????? ?????????, romanized: zelyonye chelovechki; Ukrainian: ?????? ?????????, romanized: zeleni cholovichky) were Russian soldiers who were masked and wore unmarked uniforms upon the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2014.

Between February and March 2014, these unmarked Russian soldiers occupied and blockaded the Simferopol International Airport,[2] most of Ukraine's Crimean military bases,[3] and the Supreme Council of Crimea. The name has also sometimes been used to refer to Russian troops during the War in Donbas; the Kremlin stated that no Russian troops were active in the region, but many little green men were operating in this region while disguised as pro-Russian separatists.[4][5]

After two months of denial, on 17 April 2014, Russian president Vladimir Putin confirmed that the Russian military had been operating in Ukraine.[9][10] Furthermore, numerous sources, including Russian state-owned media, have confirmed that the little green men were a mix of operatives from the Special Operations Forces and various other units of the Spetsnaz GRU.

Ukraine started this War with the Help of Victoria Nuland and John McCain. They are now paying the price, lost Millions of Citizens and 25% of their land so far. FAFO

when Poroshenko declared Russian a banned language

The Russian language has never been banned in Ukraine. That's Russian propaganda bullshite. Putin used it to start the invasion in 2014 and in 2022.

In 2019 (long after the Orange Revolution) the Ukrainian parliament passed a law making Ukrainian the official language.

quote:

Russian has not been banned in Ukraine, despite repeated claims

In April 2019, Ukraine’s parliament approved a language law making Ukrainian the mandatory language for public sector workers. The adoption of this law required citizens to know Ukrainian and obliged civil servants, soldiers, doctors and teachers to communicate in Ukrainian.

During a press conference on June 6, 2022, Lavrov said Ukraine adopted "laws banning the Russian language," claiming the Russian language was prohibited in "education, the media, everyday contacts, etc."

But Lavrov is mischaracterizing a Ukrainian language law. It does not ban Russian from the country.

Putin actually did not get involved for 8 years because he was trying for a peaceful solution. Unfortunately the Minsk accords was nothing but BS and gave time for Ukraine to prepare for War like Angela Merkel admitted

Weren't you just talking about something a Russian general was saying in the past 5 pages because it supported your position?

As a side note French was banned in the public schools for forty years. The ban was even written into the state constitution.

So were you, but I didn’t hang my hat on what he said; nor did I post what he said. I just commented on it.

And remember me calling you out as Barron’s wing man? Thanks for proving me correct again.

GODDAMNIT BARRON YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU LIE.

Every swinging duck on earth knows Russia started this war, or at least anyone who has a brain .

What you’re SUPPOSED to say is that there is a reason. If you lie about the reason, well, at least you’re trying, you F’n child.

Incorrect. It is a well known fact Neocons like Victoria Nuland and John McCain started this War. Denying facts does not change reality... Leotard.
