Russia been pushing hard to get as much territory as possible before this meeting
I’ve been thinking the same think; thus the dashes around Povrosk for instance. Plus the “fighting season” is ending.
Russia actually has done very little in their latest spring-summer offensive.

That dash was in the opposite direction to the north.

And yes, it's yet another Rosneft facility. Are the Ukrainians especially targeting Igor Sechin's company? Well, if there is one guy in Russia that Putin does not want any part of, that would be Sechin. Right now he's got plenty to be pissed off about and that list is growing every day.
Rosneft is primarily owned by the Kremlin. It's leadership has been a revolving door for Kremlin insiders

Ukrainian forces achieve gains on Pokrovsk front as Russian troops suffer heavy losses — Zelenskyy
August 15, 2025, 10:15 AM
Ukrainian forces on the Pokrovsk front are resisting Russian attempts to consolidate positions and intensifying pressure on the enemy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, following a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s headquarters on Aug. 15.
“We are making progress. Units of the 79th and 82nd Air Assault Brigades are operating very effectively on the Dobropillia front. Today, decisions have been made to further strengthen this and other directions in Donetsk,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He added that special attention is being given to positions in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
Zelenskyy also thanked Ukrainian troops for their resilience.
“The Russian army continues to suffer significant losses while trying to secure more favorable political positions for its leadership at the Alaska meeting. We understand this plan and are informing our partners about the real situation,” he said.

Has anyone informed Zelensky that Pokrovsk isn't important?

Yes.
Nobody’s told Putin- that’s the problem.

Rosneft is primarily owned by the Kremlin. It's leadership has been a revolving door for Kremlin insiders.
Since 2012 and extended in 2017, 2020 and 2024, Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft, Chairman of the Management Board of Rosneft;
From 2004 to 2013 – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rosneft;
From 2013 to present - 'Deputy' Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rosneft, the Chair going to Gerhard Schroeder. Eye candy for the pre-2022 Germans. Do we think there may be an 'Acting Chair' since 2022? Yes, we do.
Hardly a revolving door. And to remove any residual doubt about ownership and those pesky Western governance rules, here's a report from 2020 laying out the future:
quote:
Russia’s biggest state-run crude oil company Rosneft officially confirmed it saw the shift in its ownership structure – and is now no longer controlled by the state after the Rosneftegaz state holding company had relinquished its controlling stake. This is a step towards handing the Kremlin-endorsed company to Putin’s close allies and their foreign partners, all of whom are likely to pump money out of the oil company. Of course, Igor Sechin will be at the helm of this.
With Russians, don't look at the registration, look for the looting. That phrase, "shift in its ownership structure" is the nice way of putting it. BP and the Qataris have had their ownership blocks up for sale for single percent valuation for years. No takers. Not even the Chinese, which tells us all we need to know about Rosneft ownership.
Rosneft board extends Sechin's tenure as CEO for another five years (2024)
Russia’s Rosneft Has New Ownership Structure But Same CEO

As long as the US isn’t involved that’s fine with me. Let Russia fight Ukraine for the next decade who cares

I seem to remember one of those first Trump administration security advisors talking about having to explain to Trump that there would be no "winners" in a Nuclear exchange, so...

You continue to raise the bar on dumb, simple minded posts.
The US is involved already. Our great president is trying to bring this war to a deft conclusion. He like many here do not want the killing and naming to continue so he’s trying to end this thing. Great men and great countries can make peace.
And then to say you don’t care if they kill each other for the next ten years!!! Innocent people are losing their lives, their family members and all of their possessions. Why would you not care?
Sad really sad

I think you're leaving out the entirety of Europe. But they can't even fight their own battles. Not surprising.

Eh, we are but its not something we couldn't pull the plug on and be mostly, if not entirely, unaffected by.

Sechin is extremely interesting to me in that he seems to be the biggest Wild Card among the oligarchs':
"Everything they (the oligarchs) have is because of their position next to Putin. And if he were to fall, they would probably fall too. There’s one exception. There’s a guy by the name of Igor Sechin, who’s in charge of Rosneft, which is the state oil company of Russia. He used to be a gun runner during the Cold War, and he’s got the guts, and he’s got the means, and he’s got the access.
If anyone in the inner circle or anyone of the elite is going to off Putin, it’s gonna be him. But if there’s one thing that the rest of the elite, whether in the inner circle or out agrees upon, it’s that Sechin is kind of a jackass and they would probably pool to their strengths to off him the next day after he got rid of Putin."
So going after Rosneft may be brilliant because it puts pressure on the one guy who could get to Putin.
Russia's Oligarch's and their dislike for Sechin
